I am running Mac OS 10.11.6 and recently Seti is causing my Imac to freeze or just restart, after running for a few minutes. I have been using Seti for a decade, using various computers. This is the first problem I have had. Any suggestions?

I checked your tasks and see a few restarts with the New ATI SoG App. My guess is your machine doesn't agree with the new SoG App. So far we haven't seen any other problems with it. What you could try is different Pulsefind settings. Hopefully you're comfortable with adding text to text files in the Boinc Project folder? First you need to stop BOINC and navigate to /Library/Application Support/BOINC Data/projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu and find the file named mb_cmdline-8.20-opencl_ati5_SoG_mac.txt. It will be blank, the file is there to add settings listed in the setiathome-8.20-opencl_ati5_SoG_mac_darwin_README_OPENCL.txt file in the same folder. Open the mb_cmdline-8.20-opencl_ati5_SoG_mac.txt file with Textedit and copy/paste the following line at the top of the file;
-sbs 256 -period_iterations_num 150
Those settings are described in the setiathome-8.20-opencl_ati5_SoG_mac_darwin_README_OPENCL.txt file. If that doesn't help, try setting the -period_iterations_num value to 300. After editing and saving the file you'll have to reset the file permissions to owner boinc_master and group boinc_project. If you're not sure how to change the permissions, just reinstall BOINC again using the BOINC Installer.app which will automatically set the permissions. See how those settings work.

I also installed the most recent version for Mac and am having the same problem. Is it possible to reload the previous version until this gets fixed?

I am having the same issue. When the Floating graph graphics come on that in the past would show the CPU crunching on data, it starts, hangs, and then either restarts the computer, OR, takes me to the select user screen on the IMAC.

I have played with the settings and such, but no luck. This just started with the most recent install.

I am running 10.12.2 SIERRA. I have never had this issue before. Been a user for a while now...

Any help on this?

Paul
