I'm gathering some older computers to dedicate to running SETI .

When I look at my account on-line, it's difficult to figure out which computer is which, especially if I add even more computers. Is there a way to assign names to each computer to make them more readily identifiable?

The names of the computers showing in the computers list - only for the person the computers are from, everyone else will only see the computer ID numbers - are set on the computer itself. In Windows this is the same name as you'd give it for the network or domain, thus in Start->Control Panel->System->"Computer name, domain and workgroup settings".

In other OSes this will be done differently, while in Android it's impossible to change the device's name. It's made by Android.

Each computer is assigned a unique id number by the servers, this presumably is the one that is causing you a bit of confusion.
However, you can assign a name to each computer, that only you will be able to see. This is name is under your control, so you can use whatever names you want, and on your "computers on this account" page you will both the name and the number.

To change the name of a computer you can use Windows Control Panel, go to "Control Panel\System and Security\System", select the "change settings" option, and you can change the name. from there.

However if you are talking about computers that are on different accounts then you are stuck with seeing the numbers.
