Okay ... well is it for checking your bicycle's chain, you know, for wear and tear or something... Yes, close enough considering no one else who knows seems to want to answer. :^) I don't even know if it has a canonical name but bicycle chain checker will do. (It's precisely machined to the right length so that on a new chain the right edge won't drop into the links when the left edge is placed flush against a chain roller, but as the chain wears over time it stretches slightly and then it will and that indicates it's time for the chain to be replaced.) PM on its way. |

I think that thing happening up there you just described and I've now repeated might account for a couple of sails over the handlebars I enjoyed when riding the last bike I owned. Not all my accidents on it can be attributed to that though by any means. considering no one else who knows seems to want to answer. :^)*pained blink* did you notice that too? I didn't at first. I was waiting for Carlos to come back from his bike ride to have a guess. I did that for ages... I might be a while before I get a picture up. I'm aiming for pre-witching hour, if that is okay? |

I found something. Or rather... I found something I'd very much like to learn how to do, except - after trawling the internet - it would appear the people who do know how to do it either magic them out of thin air, or don't want me to know how they don't, but instead do - with tools and stuff *warning blink* If anyone of you are here reading this... I haven't finished with you yet... no... ;) So in the meantime, right on my witching hour, I thought you all might like to have a go with this ...unless you've already had a go on it of course.... ...in which case I'll wheel it back out and find something else. |

Punkin Chunker. It cuts punkins in half before the hurling so the splat has more effect. Thinks I know what it does. There is a template against the wall. Just don't know what to call it. |

NASA is responsible for testing aircraft windows to certify that they will survive a bird strike. You found a chicken launcher used to test windshields. |

I'm going bananas over this one even though I'm pretty certain potatos are not involved. |

I think Gary is close but it's not for chucking pies. You need to make the banana cream pies. |

OMG you found a 12" intercontinental banana cream pie launcher!I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that, Gary. I think I may have got even more excited than you did though *jaundiced blink* I really don't know why inventors lack that extra bit of flair and imagination to make things to be more than just for one thing. All it needed was a spring and Rob would be right - it would be a Puffff - WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE - SPLATTER machine, (with possibly a BOING in there somewhere near the beginning) and everyone else would have been right about the range of ammunition it could deliver.... If it's any consolation to you all (although obviously it's not going to get into the news) my contacts on the ground under a certain Supreme Leader's teeny tiny feet assure me he is now so preoccupied in getting watermelon, banana cream pie, chicken and bris erm... offcuts out of his hair, his nuclear program has had to be put on hold... Having said all that... I must now congratulate Lynn!! :) because not only has she identified what the machine was invented for and what it does when being used accordingly (as a Banana Stem Cutter Machine) she has also highlighted the fact that with a little tinkering and perhaps a stronger spring and maybe a little loosening of a few bolts, that nuclear missile program could be further delayed by the necessity for hair to grow back and a rather nasty bruise recovered from... Yes! :) PM on its way and thank you to everyone for playing :) Ignore this replyerm... no, I won't, Tom, and no one can make me ;) edit: PM sent |

Congratulations Lynn Let me explain my idea for the machine - as an air powered, high velocity custard pie dispensing unit - "Puffffff", the air pushing the pie into orbit. "Whhheeee" - the pie in flight. And splatter - the arrival of the pie. Anyhow, it wasn't that (but it certainly looks like a prototype "confetti cannon" to my eye).
