Hmm, wasn't many of those jobs forced overseas to Indian & Chinese Non-Unionised sweatshops by excessive union demands?

Sirius, no since so many of those jobs were non union I say it is just the lower cost of labor in the less developed overpopulated world.

So you're saying that your steel industry was non union?

Oh & the car industry in Detroit? Wasn't that because it couldn't compete on a global scale? Why was that?

I understood that but you just confirmed my original statement as underlined. Why was it cheaper?

The lower cost of labor, neither you or I could live on what they pay, and indirect govt. subsidies such as currency manipulation. The lack of safety and environmental regulations also keeps costs down.

Again understood. So profit overrode jobs.

Hmm, I can just picture a United World Workers Union dictating to nations like India & China :-)

That is the law in this country for a publicly held company. it is called fiduciary duty.

Aware of that. So much for law then :-)

Pretty sure that Clyde is aware of that as well so wondering how would his worldwide union deal with that!

According to law yes.
But in the real world?
That's pretty naive thinking that fiduciary duty exists!

In the real world if you get sued you've lost already. The cost of litigation is guaranteed to make you poorer even if you win. Tort reform is needed and the lawyers who profit will ensure that will never happen.

What has worked in the past?

Nada, that is why the world is where it is. Something new is the only chance of change. What that might be I don't know.

Well, if I may propose a solution... Libertarian Minarchy.

MK...

Thank you for an Intelligent Reply to my question. You're the first.

We may be in general agreement. If I understand Libertarian Minarchy. In addition to increasing the number of Authority's. It is a process of reducing each individual Authority's Power.

Understanding that over a period of time. (hopefully centuries) Power will always consolidate. It will be necessary to 'reinvent' Libertarian Minarchy again and again.

Thomas Jefferson to William Stephens Smith, Paris, 13 Nov. 1787 wrote:

God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion.
...
If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. We have had 13 states independent 11 years. There has been one rebellion. That comes to one rebellion in a century and a half for each state. What country ever existed a century and a half without a rebellion? And what country can preserve it's liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms.
...
What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is it's natural manure.

Yes, as you say... 'again and again'.

Don't blame me, I voted for Johnson(L) in 2016.

Hopefully, the need for a rebellion continues for another 202 years.
No sarcasm on my part. I really, as a descendant of Vikings, mean it.

Well, preserving liberties doesn't come cheap.

MK...

We are referring to Sweden.

This is just a little back-and-forth between myself (Swedish Ancestry) and janne. (Swedish)

We have been doing this for a long time.

BTW: Are you enjoying Wiggo's and the other silly Leftists attacks, as I am?

Enjoying it? No.

I think they are being totally unfair to you with the insults. Its disgusting the way they are treating you, seemingly because they disagree with your beliefs.

Now then, while we agree on some things, we disagree on quite a lot, in my opinion. Yet, we are civil towards one another.

In my opinion, they have quite a lot to learn about, well.. you know.. Tolerance.

I fully expect Barbara Boxer or some other weeping willow to sponsor a bill in Congress to pay for Psychiatric help and counseling for the members of the 'traumatized left'. But the more time they spend crying in their beer(oops sorry, meant Champagne) the less time they have to throw spanners into the works.

I don't think they really understand what kind of backlash they have created for the next 'Democratic' administration.............if that ever occurs again. By the left's shining example those on the Right(both meanings) will never again placidly accept another loss at the polls.

Well the man called it right:

"Greek PM Alexis Tsipras said the vote was "either a wake-up call or the beginning of a dangerous path", adding: "We urgently need a new vision and beginning for a united Europe""

Exciting days ahead
