I would say it's the left wing media since there are 5 of those compared to 1 right wing.... But alas, this really isn't the place for such topics. I think the aliens stole the servers, since they figured they were the higher source of intelligence on this planet and want to protect them, lol... |

Hi, No aliens. No, not any. At least to be found. But since the servers are back running on line we may have a chance. To overcome Heisenbergs: "You can't always get what you want / but if you try sometimes you just might find / you get what you need." -- Rolling Stones |

I notice the amount of Guppie work is dropping away again. My cache has gone from all Arecibo, to all Guppie, to mostly Guppie, to mostly Arecibo. Only 4 GBT files to be split, and one of them is almost done. Grant Darwin NT |

Stocked up the Linux host, and seem to only get a couple of GBT tasks. Looks like mostly Arecibo shorties "Living by the wisdom of computer science doesn't sound so bad after all. And unlike most advice, it's backed up by proofs." -- Algorithms to live by: The computer science of human decisions. |

So, if I get this right, the anti Trump (or possibly pro-Trump) people who protested against, or for Trump, stole the download servers, . . One could get that impression :) Stephen :) |

I am having a few words for the crap going on here. If you do not like it here, be gone. Leave the freaking project like at bat outta hell. Run, scoot, be gone. We currently have more than enough capacity to render whatever this project asks of us. We do not need 'shitters'/ See the movie Christine for any references you do not understand. I am getting sick and tired of all of the negative bullshit around here. If you did not notice, I have been around and am currently the number 3 contributor ON THE PLANET// So, I am not a simple ignorant coming in from the background. This is my home. I try not to shit where I eat. If there is a significant problem with the servers, I know who and how to try to contact. And more often than not, I alone am able to contact them. We get what the fraking servers have available at the time. And at times, that means nada. This is a volunteer project. The admins listen to me. You should too. Off of my soapbox new. Back to the kitties. Meow. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

I am getting sick and tired of all of the negative bullshit around here. Pointing out an issue isn't negative bullshit. When I'm being negative & complaining, you'll know it. Grant Darwin NT |

I am getting sick and tired of all of the negative bullshit around here. So, just drop it then. We all know when the servers are not working well. I report what I see, and also have the ear of Eric and Jeff when they are available. Do not piss on the kitties. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

We all know when the servers are not working well. No, we don't. Not everyone is aware of the Server Status page, nor understands just what it means. Not everyone is aware that often when there are problems it doesn't get updated. They're not aware of the Haveland graphs. Not everyone is aware of the forums, and even those aware of the forums don't necessarily know which forum to check to find out information on what is or isn't happening. They don't necessarily know to check the Panic Mode on thread. But at least when there are issues, it's generally made known in this thread. I report what I see, and also have the ear of Eric and Jeff when they are available. All well and good, but unless something is posted on the home page pointing out what the current issues are at the time they occur, and is updated as they occur and are resolved then these forums, and people such as myself and others commenting on what is happening, are the only way other people have of finding out that "Yes, there is an issue, it's not just you." Whingeing, whining and bitching isn't helpful, but just commenting on something doesn't deserve a serve from someone that regularly gets banned for unacceptable behavior. Do not piss on the kitties. ? Grant Darwin NT |

The admins listen to me. You should too. I report what I see, and also have the ear of Eric and Jeff when they are available. Eric does not preferentially listen to any one poster. Eric does his best to address problems reported by a wide variety of project participants. |

The admins listen to me. You should too. And he responds very well, when he is able to. I know that I am not the only source of info when things go south here. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Hmm. Could be a little rough sledding coming up.......... I see that the last bit of Guppi data is rapidly being finished unless some more is loaded. Then we are back to Arecibo data only again. At least there are 7 pfb splitters running, so hopefully they can keep up with demand for a while. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Ready to send drying down... 435.000 Will it not be possible to do with multibeam/Guppi something similar as einstein does with the BRP4 search? I mean, have normal multibeam/Guppi tasks for cpu, and for GPU habe a bundle of tasks (lest´s say 10 normal tasks) grouped in one big and single work unit? It would reduce stress on the database, and feed hungry GPU's. without the need for a big buffer of ready to send tasks. For those familiar with einstein, what dou you think? |

They have been experimenting with large(r) tasks on their beta site, but it has not yet been implemented. |

They have been experimenting with large(r) tasks on their beta site, but it has not yet been implemented. . . Those "larger" tasks are 4 bit sampled not 2 bit to give higher resolution in the analysis. They are twice the size of normal 2 bit tasks but surprisingly take no longer to crunch. So implementing them would not relieve pressure on the database as the number of tasks would be the same, but would increase the demand on storage space and on the upload/download servers (well at least the download part). I quite like the idea of improving the ability to analyse the data with greater resolution but I would not like to see the already strained servers take a big hit and fail. . . I am not all that familiar with Einstein@home but I believe they do "everything" very much differently than Seti@home and so their methods probably could not be applied here. Stephen . |

Over the last few hours the creation rate has dropped down to around 10. The ready to send has fallen rapidly with only an hour or so remaining. Without any RTS, and a very low creation rate, things are going to start rapidly degrading....soon. |
