I was in a bar in downtown Appleton/
She was as well, obviously..

She was on the run from an abusive 'lover'.
I had nobody at the time.

He and I came to terms one day, not very pretty. Replaced the glass he had broken in the back door. She was sleeping upstairs.
I 'ASKED' her if I might sleep next to her that night.
If she had said no.............my and our history would have ended than and there. But she said yes.

I do not believe this song was even written nor recorded back then.
But then, 40 years ago, who knew we were destined?
Surely not us. Only God knew what he had planned.
In a bar, which neither of us had ever been to before.

In that one instant..........the history of life changed./



This was her second one, her first marrage also ended in abuse.
I saved her from her second one.

So, we met in a bar, with tears in her eyes.
And I held her closer in those seconds than I have ever since.
Sattelites are destined to part, by definition.

We somehow met that night.

Eyes locked. Fate was sealed. Anything outside was instantly obliterated.

Ours to have ours to hold. If you have never experienced it...........hold ion tight.

Now this is very important.

Because I said I 'ASKED" if she would allow me to sleep by her side.
I was so in awe of the girl I would not dare anything else.
Even to be that close..........OMG

Her other guy had broken the glass, and also the vase of roses I had bought her the night before.

Now, he owned the home.
She was camping there for years.
This was the end point.
I just wandered into this bit at the worst point possible.
I was carrying at the time, illegally, but had a .38 snub nose in my boot.
Not a good scenario.

He told her to get out,.and me with her.
He brought out a shotgun and was ready to use it.
Lori and I ran..............fast. Far and long.
