Are the roos geared up for a traditional American Thanksgiving turkey dinner with stuffing, mashed potatoes, and jellied cranberry sauce? A nice glass of wine should go with that, but I'd prefer some sort of rum concoction. Oh, and pumpkin pie with whipped cream.

Heard about a lovely story in the news last night.

A New Jersey woman who was helped by a homeless man after she ran out of gas on an interstate in Philadelphia has raised more than $248,000 for the Good Samaritan.

Kate McClure, 27, started the Gofundme.com campaign earlier this month after she said she ran out of gas on Interstate 95 and a homeless man, Johnny Bobbitt Jr., walked a few blocks and bought her some with his last $20.

McClure said she didn’t have any money to repay him at the time but returned to the road several times to give him cash, clothes and food.

After a few visits, she started the fundraiser with the hopes of using the money toward housing and other expenses for the 34-year-old Bobbitt.

“I wish that I could do more for this selfless man, who went out of his way just to help me that day,” she wrote on the fundraising page. “Truly believe that all Johnny needs is one little break. Hopefully with your help I can be the one to give it to him.”

Donations have poured in, and the fundraiser has shattered its initial goal of raising $10,000 for Bobbitt. More than 8,400 people had given to the campaign by Thursday afternoon.

I remembered that I had a pizza in the freezer that I'd intended just for Thanksgiving. While I was at it, I also made a batch of brownies.

Mike, may I please have one of those, 2 bottles of Single-malt Scotch, and 4 dozen shot glasses?
I'll be back by Callaghan's fireplace. I have 44 departed Shipmates, 3 Comrades, and a cousin to toast, and I daren't drink that much on an empty stomach, not even here.
Thanks much.

This looked good. I'll eat it in memory of Celttooth.

Back at Callaghan's fireplace.

The hearth is cold, but that will change shortly.

The old grey Sailor steps up to the line, 3 paces from the fireplace.
Raising his glass, he continues an old tradition.....

"Our Friend and Comrade Richard "Dr. C.E.T.I." Lubrich has gone from us.
His tour of duty on this world has ended, and he has transferred to the next.
No more in this life will we see his face, hear his laugh, share a beverage and a story or three.
But by Faith we know that we will meet again, when our own time comes.
Until then, we have this comfort - having touched our lives, he left a part of himself behind,
in our hearts, and in our memories. As long as we remember, he will still be a part of us.
And we have so many memories to cherish.

We pray God's healing Grace comfort all who knew and cared for him, especially Joanne and all the family,
and give them the strength they need in this time of sorrow and loss.

Bon Voyage, Richard, until we meet again."

He drains his glass, and launches it into the fireplace. As the glass shatters against the brickwork,
as if on cue the logs in the hearth erupt in flames, and a warm glow envelopes the room.
The old Sailor returns to his chair, and staring into the flames, a wistful smile crosses his face, as he remembers .....

I received a nice email a few weeks ago through my website.
I thought i share this one with you.

Mike,

My daughter Ava and I just wanted to reach out and say thanks for your astronomy page http://mikesworld.eu/links.html . Ava's in girl scouts, and is working to earn her astronomy badge. For the past couple of weeks the troop has been learning about all about it, so Ava's been doing a lot of research lately and that's how she found your page. It's been so great for her I wanted to reach out and thank you. I can't remember the last time I've seen her so invested in or excited about something. She already asked us for a telescope for Christmas lol.

When I told Ava I was going to email you, she suggested(insisted) I let you know about a beginner's astronomy resource she found online, "Backyard Astronomy Basics" at https://www.homeadvisor.com/r/home-science-backyard-astronomy/ . She thought it could be a good addition to the resources on your page. I know she found it to be helpful, so hopefully you find some use for it too.

Thank you again and Happy Thanksgiving!:)
