Donald Trump talks reluctanty to reporters, but he Tweets more than happy. Now, the newly elected president yesterday's commentated the massive demonstrations.
"I looked at the protests yesterday but had the impression that we had just had an election! Why did not these people vote?" Wrote Trump with his old account.
Last Sunday came a new tweet, also from Trump's old account. Now the tone was the more understanding for the protests.
"Peaceful demonstrations are a cornerstone of our democracy." Although I do not always agree, I respect everyone's right to express their views" wrote the president on Sunday afternoon Swedish time.
Earlier in the day, President Trump also commented about the interest in the inauguration:
"Wow, look at the numbers just came: 31 million people watched the inaurigation. 11 million more than the very good viewing figures from four years ago."
It is, however, lower than the 38 million who watched Barack Obama's inauguration in 2009, writes Vanity Fair ..

Alternative facts are just a verbose way to say a lie, that way the many of the Trump supporters won't understand it.

Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway says White House press secretary presented ‘alternative facts’
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2017/01/22/trump-adviser-kellyanne-conway-says-white-house-press-secretary-presented-alternative-facts/?tid=sm_tw&utm_term=.e0795c60dde6

This Trump, his gang and his supporters really seem to be unable to realise there exist such things as truth and truthfulness.

Deplorable primitivism is no solution to anything.

I have been pondering buying a car. No US make is an option anymore.

She may have missed a word, it's possible she meant to say "alternative reality facts", cos the ones she supported are not from this universe.

From the same article:
“I don’t think you can prove those numbers one way or another,” she told Todd. “There's no way to quantify crowd numbers.”

If true, then why did she and Trump make such a bug deal about the large crowds attending his rallies?

Silly me, facts don't matter.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ...

Looks like all but one network will use a crawl on every tRump news conference and event.
LIAR! LIAR! PANTS ON FIRE!

Unfortunately for a man who has the codes, these alternate realities will require the 25th amendment to be invoked.
"When a person, as a result of a mental health disorder, is a danger to others, or to himself or herself, or gravely disabled,"
belief in alternate realities qualifies.

Yep, the lying has already started from the non-Prez's camp, lying not only to themselves but lying the people as well.

Now if the term starts with lies what will it end with?

Cheers.

in 1984, Orwell wrote:
The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command... And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed - if all records told the same tale - then the lie passed into history and became truth.

I don't think Orwell intended that book to be treated as a guide.

Don't bother. That part of the WH site will be removed in just a week or two.

No, but the number of signatures needed will go up by two for each one signed.

If you want to know how bad it is, consider the NFL thread hasn't had a post in six days and we are having playoff games for the Superbowl.

Everyone is terrified of tRump.

I'm trying to figure out the meaning of "Alternative Facts".
Makes no sense to me...
Or do we live in parallel universes...

Why should we be terrified by Trump? His nationalist views are great! We are going to Make America Great Again!

"From this day forward it’s going to be only America First,” -Trump's inauguration speech.
... "What we heard today were high nationalistic tones."

Nationalism is the main foundation of fascism.

Fascism: a form of radical authoritarian nationalism, it opposes liberal democracy and promotes the establishment of a totalitarian state.

Totalitarianism is a political system in which the state recognizes no limits to its authority and strives to regulate every aspect of public and private life wherever feasible, without any respect for human rights.
..."Totalitarian regimes stay in political power through such techniques as propaganda, state control of the mass media and educational system, control over the economy, political repression, capital punishment, restriction of speech, mass surveillance, and the establishment of internment or forced labour camps."
A distinctive feature of totalitarian governments is an "elaborate ideology, a set of ideas that gives meaning and direction to the whole society"

Extremism means, literally "the quality or state of being extreme" or "advocacy of extreme measures or views".

"Donald Trump Proposes Ideological Test For Entry To The United States"
“In the Cold War, we had an ideological screening test. The time is overdue to develop a new screening test for the threats we face today,” Trump said.
“I call it extreme, extreme vetting..." -Donald J. Trump

History already tells us where it likely goes from here.

Donald Trump’s arrival in the White House reflects a wider phenomenon: a new era of nationalism. He joins Vladimir Putin of Russia, Narendra Modi of India, Xi Jinping of China, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Turkey and a score of other nationalist leaders around the globe.

And yes, there's a simpler reason: those who voted for Trump had to go to work on Friday.

Try again. Metro stats suggest some DC residents did not go to work.

Perhaps the low turnout has something to do with a realization that "Drain the swamp" was an empty promise (given the Goldman Sachs, etc appointments).

Yep, everyone else is on welfare (or 'the dole' as some people call it, giving away what generation they are from), on food stamps, or just too busy rioting.

I watched a documentary on the History Channel yesterday about Donald Trump and his path to the White House. If that had been aired before the election I might have voted for him. It's amazing how many of his old elitist friends turned their backs on him.
