As been noted.

There are a big differens between elections!

The crowd counts are identical, by my presidential order DJT!

Yes, others of his party are claiming "fake" as well, but those of us who actually watched both P.P.'s live can certainly tell that those pic's don't lie. ;-)

Cheers.

And so are the cakes.
And the women's protest march was too big.

Please all, let us try to keep our emotions in check. Politics can be discussed calmly.

Don't blame me, I voted for Johnson(L) in 2016.

Truth is dangerous... especially when it challenges those in power.

So, if I take a picture at night, I can then start showing it as proof that the sun didn't rise that day, right?

Yes you can if you want to! There are places on earth where the sun will not rise today. In Longyearbyen the sun will not rise until around 16th february. At the north pole the sun will rise around 18th march. You can see some nice pictures from the polar night by clicking here. You could take a similar photo if you want to.

Have you added deaths from cancer to your graph yet? You could also add number of persons who died becase of an insufficient You:S health care system.

You can not solve tomorrows american problems by taking your Delorian and travel back in time. You have to find a path into the partly unpredictable future to solve the problems.

When will New Orleans, like Atlantis, disappear into the ocean? Well, you can not be sure it will happen until it has happend and it has not happend yet, has it?

Where were the flag waving, cheering crowds and V.I.P.'s?

That would have to be the smallest and quietest P.P. that I've ever seen by a long way.

2009 on top, 2017 on bottom, not much hope in America today

Lies, lies, lies!

This was the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration, period, both in person and around the globe.

Washington Metro trips as of 4pm each day,
Friday - 368,000 trips
Saturday - 597,000 trips

Now tell me there "Huge" crowds at the Inauguration.

In Chicago they had to stop the demonstration because too many women turned up.

@Guy
Before you start jumping up and down in glee about the large numbers that watch Fridays 'non-event', it was a lot less than Obama's numbers in 2009 and Reagan's in 1981.

Facts don't matter, image is all that counts even if you make it up.

Yes, the liberals know this more than anyone else.

Did you bother to read the article that was linked prior to the "Facts don't matter" comment, it reports on Trump's use of a 2009 inauguration picture as the banner picture for the POTUS Twitter account?

Tell me Guy, in your world is it only liberals that carry cameras?

This is why they purposefully framed the picture of the mall to make it look like not many showed up at the inauguration.

Right, that's precisely why the 2009 picture was taken, so that 8 years later it could be compared to one taken from the same vantage point. There's a simpler reason for why the picture makes it look like there weren't many people there for Trump.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ...

This thread is so much better than watching re-runs of the "Benny Hill Show"

DOES IT really matter how many attended on Friday & in 2009?

Trump is POTUS & unless some mishap occurs or stupidity on his side, you will have to wait 4 years before you can get rid of him so sit back & enjoy the ride :-)

Here's why it both does and does not matter.

It does not matter because, as stated in the sparring this morning between kellyanne conway and Chuck Todd (both lame in their own ways), it the actions of a president that will matter, not how many attend an inauguration.

See what I did with lowercase and uppercase letters there, guy? Pretty witty, huh? No? Then it's not witty from you either, Guy.

It does not matter how many people were there because:

An inauguration can be watched on TV or online.

Weather can be deterrent.
Distance and cost of travel can be a deterrent.
Work commitments can be a deterrent.

These last three impact Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians (and libertarians, those that are libertarian but not in lock-step with the party of that name), Greens and so on down the list, plus UnAffiliateds (such as myself). While j_mercer (I think it was him) is having a good laugh, I shake my head at his contention that a reason for the a difference in crowd size had to do with more lazy and unemployed people attending a certain inauguration. (I also reject another's characterization of what jobs are respectable, as that ignores the other jobs a person has held in the past or what that person does outside of official work time. I do not judge the intrinisic value of types of jobs, but I do question what some of them are worth)

Here's why it does matter.

He may have officially become president on Friday, but Trump (not trump, right, Guy?) already has a record of leading large organizations. Not just in business, but even politically. He made Cabinet picks. He inserted himself in situations before "the peaceful transition of power". Trump has already taken actions that we can analyze and judge.

It matters because the Tweeter-in-Chief can do whatever he wants while the National Park Service has been grounded from Twitter for re-posting the comparison picture. ("Only our truth is the right truth!")
(Need a link for this news?)

It matters because Press Secretary Sean Spicer went out and threw a temper tantrum Saturday. He has continued the story and the coverage. Not only those not happy with Trump that are discussing this are responsible for making it a controversy. Trump supporters that discuss it continue it. You and I, by discussing it, bear responsibility. Spicer has demanded that their version is the correct one (need a link for this, as well?) and is yet more evidence of how this administration will govern, interact with the press and ... I have fair to good reason to believe ... we the people ourselves.

first off ^^^ Amen Sarge!

...
True, obama divided this country even more in the quest to seize all power and control over what he viewed as stupid peasants. The sad thing is most of his supporters don't realize they are viewed as stupid peasants also from the liberal ruling class.
I never saw the country this divided under Obama... And I'll say once again Obama was hardly even progressive, if anything he was more of a centrist, due to attempting to appease people on the right.

Relief from tyranny is at hand. Tomorrow is Monday. The crying, screaming and belly flop limb flailing will increase. But don't worry, an adult is now in the white house.
Relief from tyranny? HA!- The tyranny is just beginning. I wonder how long til some g-men show up at my door questioning my 'un american' activities on various forums.

In that case, there sure is going to be a lot of discussion over the next 4 years so this is still the main point :-)

Who cares how many people showed up.

You cared enough to create an 8 year liberal conspiracy of picture taking.

Like it matters...

Right, facts don't matter anymore.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ...

C'mon, everybody knows only the gubmint owned cameras 8 years ago. It wasn't until 2013, when cell phone companies did an end-run around Obama, that cameras got into the hand of the common man.
