Early voted the first time ever this cycle. Clyde, IIRC, also early voted. [Yep, poor grammar on my part. ;)] Restriction? Elimination? BAH! HUMBUG!!! Capitalize on this good fortune, one word can bring you round ... changes. |

Major: Guilford County, for example, went from having 16 early voting locations in 2012 to just one this year. Because of those cutbacks, voters had to wait several hours to cast a ballot. Turnout in Guilford County over the first few days of early voting was down 85 percent. Six counties across the state that cut polling locations saw turnout drop by at least 50 percent. |

Voter ID laws are a pile of BUNK to cover for local officials who are corrupt, incompetent and lazy. There is zero reason in the computer age for a single dead person to be on the list of registered voters! If you find a dead person voting prosecute the local official who had the name on the list for conspiracy to commit voter fraud! Make the SOB's understand it isn't a ceremonial position and they have to work for their salary. As to ID at the poll, well, how do you ID absentee voters? BIG F'n hole isn't it? Can't plug that one with a drivers license can you? Or are you going to depend on that scene from The Miracle on 34th Street where the sacks of mail are brought into the Court and Kris Kringle is vindicated? Might want to think about that one, the Post Office is downsizing so much employees don't give a rat's a$$ about doing their job. They are all walking dead. Besides how do they know who lives at an address? If you want total security for the election, then guess what? The Federal Government is going to have to run the election, because local officials are incompetent, corrupt and lazy. Maybe the Federal Government could promulgate standards, but the Constitution forbids it. The problem is simple. Humans run the government so there will be fraud, corruption, incompetence and laziness. Let that sink into your brain and stop demanding perfection. It ain't going to happen! If you have a small amount of fraud, encourage a huge turnout. Then the small amount of fraud gets buried under an avalanche. Do the math. |

Looks like for 10 of the 15 days of early voting, Guilford County had 25 early voting locations open. Yeah, on the other 5, they only had one (the county courthouse, open until 5pm)... but on the last 2/3rds of the days of early voting, they had 25... most of which were open until 6:30 PM. http://www.myguilford.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/EV-Schedule-Revised-092916.pdf I call BS on this accusation. https://youtu.be/iY57ErBkFFE #Texit Don't blame me, I voted for Johnson(L) in 2016. Simple indeed. Vote for heaven's sake. A 50% turnout is not good enough. 25% of the americans voted for Trump this year. A little bit more voted for Hillary. And what nonsense is it about to the "problem" identifying yourself when voting? You cannot drive a car, make transactions in a bank or anything else without some ID. |

My mistake. I clicked 'quote' on the wrong post. I meant to quote betreger's post. @ betreger: Maybe turnout dropped because of the two goobers that the two major parties nominated. Trump and Clinton... If I wasn't a Libertarian, I likely would not have voted either. https://youtu.be/iY57ErBkFFE #Texit Don't blame me, I voted for Johnson(L) in 2016. If you haven't shown up to vote in a year (or two), your name gets DELETED from the rolls. Oh dear. No wonder why the US has such low turnouts. |

Fraud always exists... If you want to live in a fantasy land, move to the DPRK because it is a fantasy land. Oh, there is still fraud there. That's when they throw you to the dogs or put you in front of the anti-aircraft guns. Major, there is a tech answer. Now where do you want us to put your chip? You know the one that will be read and stored in the database every time you pass through a door. |

It was Putin. It was Comey. It was the antiquated Electoral College System. It was anything except the total disconnect between the liberal(oops sorry, progressive) policies of the last 8 years and the Americans who actually pay the bills instead of sucking from the trough. They're tired of 'Hope' and No Change. Janneseti is correct. What's the big deal on voter ID? You can't buy COLD MEDICINE in 39 States without a photo ID issued BY THAT STATE! He is also correct that the voter apathy in the USA is appalling. "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

It was Putin. Apathy, you say... Yes, it is appalling, primarily because of what follows it. https://youtu.be/iY57ErBkFFE #Texit Don't blame me, I voted for Johnson(L) in 2016. Truth is dangerous... especially when it challenges those in power. |

It was Putin. Who are the Americans paying the bills? Last time I looked, it was those from the Western Coast and those from the North East. And didn't they vote for the Democrat? |

It was Putin. In his phrase 'the Americans who actually pay the bills', JaundicedEye was not referring to geographical regions, but to income levels, in my opinion. As you can see, in 2014 the bottom 50% (by adjusted gross income) of households earned 11.27% of the total AGI but paid only 2.75% of the Federal income tax. The top 50% earned 88.73% of the total AGI but paid 97.25% of the Federal Income Tax. So, it is the top half that 'pays the bills'. As for 'voting Democrat'... There isn't all that much difference between the 'Democrats' and the 'Republicans'. Examine this: Top 1% Top 5% Top 10% Top 25% Top 50% Bottom 50% 2014 39.48 59.97 70.88 86.78 97.25 2.75 2013 37.80 58.55 69.80 86.27 97.22 2.78 2012 38.09 58.95 70.17 86.42 97.22 2.78 2011 35.06 56.49 68.26 85.62 97.11 2.89 2010 37.38 59.07 70.62 87.11 97.64 2.36 2009 36.34 58.17 69.89 86.74 97.54 2.46 2008 37.51 58.06 69.20 85.57 96.90 3.10 2007 39.81 59.90 70.41 85.71 96.64 3.36 2006 39.36 59.49 70.08 85.49 96.59 3.41 2005 38.78 58.93 69.46 85.07 96.41 3.59 2004 36.28 56.35 67.30 83.82 96.13 3.87 2003 33.69 53.54 64.89 82.76 95.93 4.07 2002 33.09 52.86 64.63 82.67 95.79 4.21 2001 33.22 52.24 63.68 81.56 95.10 4.90 2000 37.42 56.47 67.33 84.01 96.09 3.91 1999 36.18 55.45 66.45 83.54 96.00 4.00 1998 34.75 53.84 65.04 82.69 95.79 4.21 1997 33.17 51.87 63.2 81.67 95.72 4.28 1996 32.31 50.97 62.51 81.32 95.68 4.32 1995 30.26 48.91 60.75 80.36 95.39 4.61 1994 28.86 47.52 59.45 79.55 95.23 4.77 1993 29.01 47.36 59.24 79.27 95.19 4.81 1992 27.54 45.88 58.01 78.48 94.64 5.36 1991 24.82 43.38 55.82 77.29 94.52 5.48 1990 25.13 43.64 55.36 77.02 94.19 5.81 1989 25.24 43.94 55.78 77.22 94.17 5.83 1988 27.58 45.62 57.28 77.84 94.28 5.72 1987 24.81 43.26 55.61 76.92 93.93 6.07 1986 25.75 42.57 54.69 76.02 93.54 6.46 1985 22.3 39.28 51.89 74.31 92.90 7.10 1984 21.79 38.64 51.12 73.8 92.73 7.27 1983 20.73 37.71 50.08 73.31 92.89 7.11 1982 19.29 36.39 48.8 72.61 92.68 7.32 1981 17.89 35.36 48.22 72.42 92.58 7.42 1980 19.29 37.07 49.47 73.12 92.98 7.02 The same trend has continued, by and large, since 1980 (last year of the Carter Presidency). Tax burden of the bottom 50% has gone down. Tax burden of the other groups (especially the top 1%) has gone up. Is this fair? NO. It is tyranny by the majority (those that 'suck from the trough', and those misled by the power hungry bastidges in power) against those that 'pay the bills'. But isn't that saying the same thing? The top wage earners live on the coasts and by and large voted Democrat. The bottom 50% live in the middle and voted Republican. Texas being the exception, mainly due to its natural resources, otherwise it would be struggling just like the others. |
