For years, I've had the setting checked "Suspend when computer is in use", and BOINC would only suspend computation when I used the keyboard, such as in a console window. (I'm running CentOS linux.)

After a recent RPM upgrade from version 7.2.42 to 7.6.22, BOINC sits there for days saying that the computer is in use. However, I've not touched anything. Something is clearly broken about its idle detection.

Does anyone know how to fix it? I guess I could change the setting but I wanted to see if anyone has worked around this.

Unlike Windows Linux doesn't have a one method to check for idle status that works on all distros and on all versions. As a result the client tries this and that and half the time it doesn't work.

7.6.23 has a new method that uses X to check idle status. For the new method to work client needs to be able to access your X session. On Debian that is done by placing a file in etc/X11/Xsession.d/ .
