At one time, many years ago I as keeping up with Mark, but I don't even dream of reaching one billion. I am proud to say that I have reached 35 million. Yeah me.

Congrats and thumbs up (or would that be kitty paws up?) to all of your achievements.

Today the kitty crew reached another one themselves......
850 million all-Seti kibblestones.

For me, I suspect that accomplishment would be a Marshall Tucker moment (e.g. Dreams I'll Never See :)

Well, recently got one great achievement, got to talk on Observatory in Zagreb about BOINC.

Check info here: http://zvjezdarnica.hr/popularna_predavanja/pomoc-znanosti-iz-naslonjaca/

Event was made here: https://tinyurl.com/yc4vve6t

& here's a PDF of lecture: https://tinyurl.com/y8cxzxn2

So, let's spread "the Word". ;)

Crunched past the 10M total last week while I was travelling to a high-school class reunion. (I don't remember all those old people in my classes!!) With solar power offsetting most of my Seti effort (see other posts in this thread re: solar power) it is easy to rationalize a 24/7 operation. Just plodding along in the fine tradition of citizen science screen-saver applications, I am greatly impressed by the Seti production of the "big guns." Give us a call, ET, we're listening.

Close! You must be about my age, I remember when that came out, I was a teenager and loved it. :-) That was Molly Hatchet who sang Dreams, MTB was a little more country, a little less hard(ish) southern rock. And where do you live? I am on Xcel here as well, but haven't noticed a summer escalation on my bill, but then, I guess I should probably pay closer attention. But with my solar panels, that helps absorb a good bit of the summer pain, as long as the sun is shining, of course... :-/

Arrgh, and I even saw Molly Hatchet perform "Dreams" at the Buffalo Rose in Golden CO, mid-90s maybe? For some reason I seem to have a mental block in misnaming them as MTB. Dunno why. Must be those substances I was ingesting in the 70s. :)

I'm thrilled to report that I am #2 top participant just behind my Team Make W3 Perl.

I also have 5 of the top 10 crunchers here at Seti@home (their rankings are constantly moving up and down within the top 10)

Woo Hoo !!!!

Congrats Zalster. No bad feelings knocking me out of the Top 10 list. Still hanging in at #12. And your contribution to the GPUUG team is awesome and worth noting that your farm is 1/10 the size of W3Perl's. Go-Go GPUUG team, I think we have the metal locked up for the WOW contest this year.

And just to think with all that hardware at 4-5k a pop, an extra $40 for an SSD with Linux and Cuda8 and you would easily fill the top 5 spots!

I had to say it :D

Good job Zal, keep those meters spinning!

Even though I have been with the project almost since the very beginning, I have only made a little less than 19 million credits.

For some years I had all my computers crunching 24/7. I dont do that anymore.
There are many reasons.

Most of my computers are not that powerfull, and don't have a useable GPU, so it wouldnt be worth the effort.

Electricity is relatively expensive where I live, and my electric bills were simply to big.

And I got tired of having many computers standing around making noise and heat (especially during the summer time).

So I'm down to crunching on one, not particularly powerfull machine, and its normally only on, when I actually use it.

I'm hoping to get to 20 million credits, and perhaps even 50 million, someday, but its not something I will put a lot of effort into.

On the other hand I have done, and still do some testing for the developers. Not much any more, but I am ready to help if they need my input.
This, I hope, helps the project with having the big crunchers run more efficiently / making less errors.
So in that way I hope to contribute in my own way. That way, perhaps indirectly, I'm helping it produce some extra science, for the energy spent.

Who is the keeper of the green stars? I wrote a check to Berkley using the donation form back in May. It didn't clear my account and trickle down to SETI until 16 August.
