Great day in the morning, hit 80M sometime in the early hours today!! I wonder what the next 18 years will bring.

Congrats, Cliff.

Message 1887611 - Posted: 3 Sep 2017, 0:43:14 UTC

Greetings All

Thought this might be the right thread to put this in. Finally have a new machine in my stable of PC's.

1 x AMD Ryzen 5 1400 (4C/8T) with a GTX 1060 3GB.

I am happy with this machine, cause its a massive improvement on the old Q6600 on a P5Q pro Board.

Its a nice little achievement for me, as this has been coming for a very long time.

On a side note of building it myself, was it does help to have the RAM modules seated correctly otherwise it does not boot into a BIOS.

Regards

No problem........I named it the user achievements thread.
They can be achievements of any Seti related nature.
Doesn't have to be about credits or RAC.

It does give one some satisfaction putting together a PC from parts and watching it come to life under your hands.
My PCs are all home built by myself.
And, been there done that. Yes, booting does not work too well with the RAM hanging out of it's sockets.....LOL.

Message 1889877 - Posted: 15 Sep 2017, 5:26:35 UTC - in response to Message 1886683.

It took me 14 years to hit 13 million but this year I started to spend serious money in January and now have a total credit of 27,788,430.
I have a EVGA X99 Classified MB, i7 6950X cpu (10 core), 32 GB Corsair Dominator Platinum ram, and 2 Nvidia 1080 video cards (1 is a hybrid and the other is a super clocked card) along with a EVGA 1300 watt power supply.
I can fit 2 more 1080 cards on the motherboard which I will buy when I can find the money.
All stuffed into a Cosmos II case.
Total cost so far is about $3,400.
Average Credit for the Broadwell-E is 52,886.28.
I am also running 2 X58 machines.
1 is a 975X cpu (4 core) and 2 EVGA 1050 Ti gaming cards. 24,110.69 avg. credits
The other has a 980X cpu and 1 EVGA 1050 Ti gaming card. 18,498.98 avg. credits

jfw06013, congratz, and I have to say that I sort of followed your path, I have been in it for about 18 1/2 years now, and had a long slow burn up until a little over 2 or so years ago, when I caught a near terminal case of SETI fever. My advice, be careful, it can be a mind altering ailment, and although not contagious, it's effects can have lasting consequences on your electric bill, and your wallet, as it can provoke you to make some unexpected purchases, and alters your perception of reality to have them appear to be absolutely rational... ;-) (Don't ask me how I know..) lol

. . I am not entirely sure about the "non-contagious" part. It seems to spread quite readily amongst those who frquent these message boards.

. . 18 months ago I came back simply going to see if my then new i5 could be useful to the project. I had been idle for a couple of years after my old Pentium 4 drifted off to silicon heaven and at that time I had no intention of buying any more harware for the cause.

. . Here I am 18 months later with a resurrected Core2 Duo, which has first grew a GT730 and then a GTX1050ti, the i5 which has sprouted a GTX950 and a recently deceased Pentium D (dual core) which first grew 2 x GTX970s which proved to be too hot for that environment and were replaced by 2 x GTX1060 6GBs. I have also added another i5-6600 which is chugging away merrily with the 2 x 970s in a much better case (Cooler Master HAF EVO) where they are keeping their cool much better, though I am still dreading summer, and I am working on a Ryzen-7 unit to inherit the 2 x 1060s from the deceased Pentium.

. . These forums should carry a health warning to the effect that "Chatting with persons in these forums could prove harmful to your bank balance!"

. . And I am far from the worst case of the fever ... eh Mr Kittyman ??

Stephen

Stephen :)

Let's just say that for monetary reasons I am somewhat in remission.
Certainly not cured!
But my total credits are still evidence of the extent of my affliction.........LOL.
Should I somehow suddenly have extra funds available, I am quite afraid it would again flare up beyond control.......

https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/top_users.php

Unfortunately there is no way to sort the list, you have to click next 20 each time. So it can take a long time to figure out where you stand.

Edit...

PS. Welcome to the boards and glad to have you onboard.

Don't think you can do that directly from this site. You could laboriously search for yourself in the Top Participants section of Statistics. Easiest would be to just follow the link under each of your computers in your Account View to one of the external stats site like BoincStats.
