Thanks. Just hope my RAC continues to get back to where it was. Major power hit a week ago and it took me a week to get the parts I needed to bring the systems back up.

Small achievement compared to all you veterans....just my first mill, but proud anyway.
Done since Feb7th on my daily driver.

I achieved a new GPU that does guppi HIP vlars in just over 103 seconds per task. An old 1080 needs 143+ seconds to that.
The user achievement is in the almost linear scaling of performance when going from 20 to 28 SMX units.

I dunno how much longer I can do this.
I have lost 2 computers in the last few weeks, and I cannot afford to replace them.
Let's just say it has been a fine run for the kitties.
Many years of dedication and doing without other things I could have had.

Total credit 16,451,341
Recent average credit 50,770.82
The GTX 1080 really crunches and does 28,000 to 30,000 WU on average with a EVGA Classified MB, Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4 64Gb and a Intel 6950X 10 core cpu.
I have 3 other machines crunching.
ASUS i7 G73JW Laptop with Nvidia 460 gpu
Desktop with GTX 750Ti (Intel 975X 4 core cpu).
Desktop with GTX 1050Ti (Intel 980X 6 core cpu).
All are overclocked.
I think my electric bill went up $100 a month!

I've had some pretty pathetic computers in the last 15 years but I have upgraded in the last year so my scores should jump up a bit.

It does get addictive. Be careful, or you'll end up like me, burning 2000 kwh/mo. Yikes!

I'd pour something to drink to them! i.e. milk or their preferred beverage.

3*GTX1080 + 1*GTX1080Ti and CPU plus cooling equals about
3*140W+1*200W + 140W + MB + cooling = about 800W.

For SETI: 800W * 24h/d * 30d/mo * 1k/1000 = 576 kWh/mo for boinc. Approx 7000 kWh/y.

The whole house needs 20 000 kWh/y (Seti included) for heating, warm water and appliances. 63,5 deg North. No active cooling in the house. Any escaping heat is circulated back to the input air. The computer room is in the basement so summer heat is seldom a problem. The whole house electric bill is about €200/mo.

I'm considering going partly Solar + batteries.

That RAM was a waste of money IMHO; 16GB is more than sufficient for a SETI cruncher. I have one with dual E5-2670s (32 threads) and dual GTX 1080s and 16gb RAM and it is averaging around 85K RAC with no stress. I have experimented with as low as 8GB for both an X58-based and X79-based consumer board with GTX 1080 and GTX 980 without running in to RAM problems. Just look in Windows Task Manager and add up the memory needed by all your SETI threads. Less than a couple of gig even on the dualie, which in addition to 3 WUs/GPU is running 25 threads of MB.

The next generation of GPU apps are going to need 'some' CPU ram to support the GPU locked host (CPU) memory to do the data transfers reliably in the background (asyncronously, need to know in advance basis). And on M$ platforms the company has said decades ago they the leave the optimization to the HW industry.
