Just got pointed to this YouTube - How the sandwich was invented

Which got me thinking, as stats show, that in the US, you consume on average one sandwich each per day. Therefore you must have favorites, so please share.

Mine are usually, compared to the advertised US ones, very simple.

Home made Wholemeal bread, westfalen schinken, emmental cheese and tomato.

Hold the tomato; with ketchup, mayo, and pickles. This is from Portillo's.

This image is not from Portillo's -- theirs is better: it has more beef and is (optionally) dipped in the beef gravy. Most people have sweet and/or hot peppers on it, but I don't.

A home made one I thought of:-

Bread
Butter
Crisps (USA - Potato chips)
Onion crispies
Branston Pickle (other pickles are available, choose your favourite)
Cheddar cheese (a mature one of choice)
English mustard
Ham (Honey Roast)
Butter
Bread

Optionally add German Pepper Salami somewhere the Ham...

Press down before trying to eat, to crunch the Potato crisps.

Sorry no picture, they don't last long ehough, and my mouth is watering now!!!!!
Happy Crunching,

Graham

Hamburger?
Technically it could be called a sandwich.
Or a hot dog for that matter for the same reason.
Both can be quite tasty though:)

My favorite? The one I just finished.

Sometimes simple like egg salad or grilled cheese

Sometimes a dagwood

Sometimes it is the skill of the maker and the freshness of the ingredients.

I have several favorites including In-N-Out Burger, Gyros, BLTA, but my all time number 1 is:

A Hot Pastrami on french roll with ample mustard and dill pickels.

In the summer, when tomatoes are ripe and warm on the vines, I like toasted sourdough French bread, mustard, lettuce, tomatoes and some nice sharp cheddar cheese. Yum!

I would go for a fine liverwurst or braunshweiger sandwich.
With a slathering of horseradish mustard and a thick slice of onion on top.
