Ive searched for a method to do this but either found posts that were significantly out of date and made references to options that no longer exist in the preferences sections, or turned up nothing related to the current versions of the BOINC and SETI@home program.

I have laptop workstations, and during non utilized times I like to let it run though a few distributed computing projects admittedly more in the winter as a desk heater of sorts(SETI, Rosetta, POEM)

My issue stems that during times when I do not have cad open, I want to utilize the Quadro GPU, but leave the Intel GPU free to render the interfaces. SETI is the only project I subscribe to that makes use of the OCL support of the Intel HD4000.

When it utilizes the Intel GPU, the interface on some programs becomes noticeably laggy with the cursor often trailing a number of frames and a few seconds behind. It does not appear to be related to any sort of thermal throttling. As of this post we are running 4 CPU work units, 1 Nvidia, 1 Intel, max core temperature is 56C, not even enough to bring the fans online.

Is there a way to specify only using GPU0 (the Quadro), or deny intel work units automatically ?

Certainly for SETI@Home, and probably for the others this is quite a simple process:
Go to your account, preferences page:
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/prefs.php?subset=project

Hit the "edit preferences" for the set of prefs you want to change, then make sure the "use Nvidia" option is checked, and the "use Intel GPU" option is unchecked.
Save, then, after a while you will find that your computer(s) are no longer trying to run SETI@Home on the Intel GPU, but the Nvidia GPUs are working hard.

To not get more Intel GPU work from this project - deselect "Use Intel GPU" here:
SETI@home preferences

For Rosetta@home - probably here:
https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/prefs.php?subset=project

For POEM@HOME - probably here:
http://boinc.fzk.de/poem/prefs.php?subset=project

To Disable Intel GPU for all projects:
Use:
<ignore_intel_dev>0</ignore_intel_dev>
(0 == the first Intel GPU) in:
cc_config.xml

thanks to both of you for that.

I had been just perusing through the total Boinc settings I suppose. When you click the "preferences" button inside of the GUI it routes to the following web page, http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/prefs.php?subset=global , that ultimately does not contain those options nor have any links or pointers where to find it so I had assumed it changed.

Again thanks for helping !

But that's also what the mouse-over on that button says: View and modify your computing preferences.

The project preferences differ from project to project, and while some projects do offer a direct link to them from the manager, this project chose not to do so. You can only have so many buttons before it gets cluttering.

The project preferences are easily reached from your account, Preferences for this project.

To not get more Intel GPU work . . .

For POEM@HOME - probably here:
http://boinc.fzk.de/poem/prefs.php?subset=project

Poem@home is shut down as of "4 Oct 2016, 12:48:08."
