-How far is the approximate "center of the universe"? Is there really a "center"?

The universe doesn't have a center or some borders.
Think about our planet Earth's surface.
You can travel around it without finding a center or a border.

That question is impossible to answer because we don't know how big the Universe is. All we do know is that the observable universe that we can se and detect is expanding a way from us in all directions and has been doing so for about 14 billion years since the big bang.

We are on the outer edges of the Milkyway galaxy that is also moving away from wherever the source of the big bang was. So there is no centre of the big bang and no entre of the universe.

The question to ask is did the universe exist before the big bang, or was it created by the big bang? In which case what existed before the big bang? And moreover what is our universe expanding into?

If You look at the threedimensional space it does not have a center.

If You look at the fourdimensional timespace it may have a center. This center would not be a place but an event, namely the big bang. With this interpretation the distance to the center of the universe would be 13800000000 years.

The universe has one obvious border. We don't know of any time before the big bang.

Its been years already. Where are the aliens? Maybe the nice folks at seti aren't doing something right. Might try studying quantum behavior . Might even venture to do a quantum scan of deep space. Maybe it takes a long time for aliens to get in place. Maybe it takes a long time for them to communicate. Seti people are brilliant. They really know what they're doing. Either way, seti, I'm still waiting. Remember me seti. I'm the guy that got aliens with a home made radio telescope before seti even got off the ground. Got to stay out of their way. Seti's big time. Still no extraterestrials. Remember, if you keep trying it should work. We believe in you . The extraterestrials believe in you. The reality part lacks a little, but hey you can't expect to have everything. Go Seti.

Communicate with spooky action. Use phased scanning on it. The medium is already in place. You just got to retrieve the data from it. Lookie there aliens waving to you . Wave back.

Maybe you should read up on Nebula, https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_forum.php?id=1511, 1st. ;-)

WIRED interviewed Berkeley SETI Research Center's Steve Croft and Eric Korpela, and the SETI Institute's Seth Shostak, about one method we use to figure out whether claimed ETI signals are legit: https://www.wired.com/2016/10/aliens-trying-contact-use-handy-scale/

Steve, I really liked the assessment in the determination. It puts to light the verification method. Do you think any of you might be able to reach out to Hillary Clinton, who promised to disclose all backstories and found evidence of known ET? Then again..maybe she doesn't know anything like the rest of us. If it weren't for those ominous signs posted at Area 51 threatening to shoot you, I'd go right in and investigate it myself.

I know that this idea might be over the board but I want to share it and see what you are thinking of it.

For an advanced groups of aliens that can travel faster than the speed of light, between star systems or even farther with maybe warp bubbles (theorically), the communication is vital and must also travel faster than the speed of light. Maybe through micro wormholes (theoretically) that exist only for the duration of the transmission of communication, and not propagated through the whole space.

I can't believe that they would use electromagnetic signals that take forever to reach their destinationn. Also, the electromagnetic signals get scrambled with the radiation of space for a long distance. For them, using electromagnetic signals would be the equivalent to using the old morse code or even through messagers on horses. In other words, very primitive.

Even if they listen to our (electromagnetic) transmission, about all our television programs and movies that we have are describing aliens as the bad guys who want to hurt us in a way or another or invade us. This is not exactly a welcoming attitude.

I know, I must be watching too much science-fiction.

In terms of communicating without radio, all that is needed to be done for verbally sent messages would first be to record and uploaded them to some sort of miniaturized interstellar craft. This interstellar craft uses your own ships hyper-speed technology and drives messages back to home base or where-ever they have a docking station. - nothing wrong with science fiction.

I wonder if the present search method is the only way to find out if we are the only ones talk into space. I have been involved with engineering and various forms of science all of my life, now 84, and have seen many changes, discovers etc. Give what we know about signals traveling through space, can we do other methods????

If we get a signal, how do we know it is worth investagating, and withou knowing the language how do we decode it, assuming that it is not in English, etc.
