There's a time & place for everything.

Sports Arenas & Movie theatres are there to provide entertainment for the crowds/audience.

If they want to spout political bovine excrement, then they should use the Jeremy Kyle Show, Opfrah Show, social media or political conventions.

Just so you know Glenn that wiki page says it was bought not given.

Gary where do you think the Land council get there money from to buy the Land at Redfern......??

Umm I would not be the federal Gov would it .

So if the federal gov gives them millions and they then buy the Land off the state gov that is the Governments giving the land back .

Only if the Land council had to raise the money them self's would they actually be buying the land . It's called paperwork witch has to be filled out and lodged with the right gov dept to make it all legal .

AS ENTERTAINMENT. there is NO connection to NATION. Such so-called connections are only now perceived as connections due to the weight of tradition.

If ANYTHING, at football games, they should pledge the flag of the state a team is from and sing its state's anthem. That's all it is: fake wars between teams from major states or major cities.

Seeing the pictures of the fallen and connecting it to sports is an absolute and complete disgrace to their memories.

My view is that we are the freest nation on Earth, and we should protect all forms of expression, including the right to protest. Much in the same way that burning the U.S. Flag doesn't have to mean desecration or disrespect, but that no symbol is held in higher regard than our freedom of speech (expression).

While everyone may have different beliefs on the subject, including those that served our great nation, I would think ultimately that is what was fought for; so we can have that freedom of expression. We should celebrate the fact that we can rather than castigate those who do, even if we disagree.

sarge I am surprised a educated man as you didn't get it

A vet that is homeless and has to beg for food !!!!

Is that what he fought for ! , I think not

Some times the only way to bring a problem to the front of every ones attention is to do a protest at a sporting game and putting a fist up is probably the least and most passive way to protest .

Unlike what has happened here with not only players but fans .

At one game a very big banner was unfolded and that did get a lot of publicity and you can't do that now because the NRL has banned any protests that may disrupt the game .

So, you agree there is no connection? The lack of the comma suggests this. If otherwise, you have not given sufficient reason. Ozz's post is a good reference. Another is:

Good, I salute you. I also request that you check again on
the freedom thingy, Freedom comes in many shapes and flavours.
I could go into the definitions stuff, but I believe we all know
where we stand on such things.

Incorrect.

They fell to preserve freedom. That athlete & your statement dishonours that!

Yes, that athlete had the freedom to do what he did, but he did it in the wrong manner & the wrong place.

Those fallen also fell to give me that same freedom & I'm saying you're wrong.

B***s***. Read the article I linked, for one.
Two, how much do you want to bet few to one no one's thinking of the country or the military when they stand and sing the anthem. Just like not thinking about God when reciting/singing liturgy/hymns (particularly if in Latin, not understood).

Good one celttooth . Nice to see I'm not the only one that understands freedom .

It seems the old colony's of the Empire shear the same thoughts on freedom

We achieved Independence not through war but negotiation maybe that's where America went wrong all them years ago .

They acted like little children whom spat the dummy because there parents told them NO you can't do that or have that so like children do they chucked a tantrum.

And now it's all backfiring on them :-)

I am much less concerned about their last revolution than I am
about the next one. Like how soon, and how verbose it may be.

So they fell to give you the freedom of speech while at the same time to quell the freedom of others - Is that what Yanks really think? Are they really full of bovine excrement?

BTW I've often attended sports stadiums & want to watch the game - not some greedy overpaid wally woofer making politic statements.
