I have been working on a new build using 3 Radeon Pro Duo cards for a total of 6 GPUs. I hope it will be online in a week. I have posted build details here:

Incredible! Can't wait to see how well it performs -- I've always wondered about the Pro Duos. Please post the host ID when you have it crunching (and how many tasks/GPU) so I can aggregate your results to see stats!

I just got the coolant in from the UK today. I hope to have it up and running within a week. I just hope the FX-8370 can keep the GPU's loaded till I can upgrade to Zen. Also, this build has a newer PSU, so I should be able to assess total system power usage.

Aren't those cards like 1.5k USD?

Yes, plus EK water blocks... But it should be twice the output of Fury X, so about the same cost/performance.

I do enjoy your YouTube videos of your computer builds. Nice to look into some extreme builds every once and a while when you are fantasizing about a bottomless wallet.

Thanks! I should have a new video posted on it today. I am trying to document all details of the build.

I have run into a few issues... I am not rushing it so that I have time to get everything right. Maybe I will make good progress today... I hope my computer Name/ID mistake is easily resolved.

It's now up and running with 2 ProDuo...finally. I had a lot of issues getting this one going. The cloned SSD was a big issue. Now I am fighting auto-updating drivers. My last system just didn't auto-update, not sure why, so I don't know how to duplicate that behavior on this system. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What I've found with Nvidia drivers is that Windows will allow me to install (and keep) a driver as long as it is newer than the one that comes with Windows.

So "upgrading" from the Windows supplied driver is ok, but "downgrading" seems to be a lost cause.

I have resigned to using relatively new drivers that are not optimal, but that work.

This may of course be a whole different world on the AMD side.

On my Penta-Nano system, I could clean everything with DDU and Device Manager would say something like Window Generic driver for each GPU. Then I could install any version of driver I want. On this system, after running DDU and rebooting, the system starts automatically install a driver. When I try to install the one I want, it says the one installed is newer. The odd part is that the drive was cloned. Really not sure what is going on.

I don't use W10 myself, so I might shoot blanks here, but isn't there an option in W10 professional to disable all updates?

Otherwise, did you try the group policy/registry hacks?

edit: I'm sure you already tried this because it's the most obvious option:

Hi Shaggie76, This machine 8091204 is up and running for over a week. It is finally stable with drivers and windows updates under control with group policy editor. Only issue is that I could not get it working with all 3 ProDuo cards, so only 2 are enabled. I will try again when I replace the MB/CPU at the end of the year.

I have it running Lunatics 0.45 Beta5, using optimized args. I am using 1.5CPU and 1GPU per WU. With an 8 core FX-8370, that will be 6 cores for GPU support and 2 for CPU apps. This is dedicated to SETI for now. Max PSU power in is 898.3W and max power out is 840.6W. According to HWInfo, of the 4 GPU's max chip power is 130W and lowest is 104W.

Do note that the FX series 8 cores have only 4 FPU units, so your units may stall if no FPU resources are available.

That will probably be a problem if I had all 3 ProDuo's working. With only 2 active (4 GPUs) there should be no problem. I have experimented with allocating more CPU to tasks with no increase in performance. I actually have a Penta-Nano system that also doesn't seem to be held back by the CPU. But I am definitely looking forward to upgrade.

It depends how many CPU cores are utilized with seti Tasks.
If 4 instances are running on CPU one will get into Trouble.
