Is there any plan to change the SETI@home preferences options?

Turn version V7 to just Arecibo and V8 to GBT so that people can receive the data sets that they want? I like VLAR since I am on AMD. I know Nvidia users like Arecibo. Why can't we have a choice?

Because both Arecibo and GBT are simply V8 tasks.

"v7" was the previous application, "v8" is the current application and does more types of analysis than "v7" did (this is part of the reason for us seeing 2010 data being re-run). There has been some talk about putting an option onto the "account options" page, but, due to other work getting in the way nothing has come about it.

I think (pure speculation) that v8 isn't going to be around for very long as there is some talk about getting data from a third source and that may mean more significant changes to the MultiBeam application, maybe that is what they are waiting for before they put the "data source" options onto our account options page?

Last testing I saw was an increase in the size of the work unit, to doubling their current size.

There was also talk about a new AP? maybe.. That one is more just "rumors"

...There was some talk about someone in the lab trying to split APs from the GBT data. No idea how far along the line that has got, or if it would need a new version of the AP application - now that would open up a whole new field of fun for us all :-)

Since we neither test anything like that at Lunatics nor beta there is lots of time.

Mike’s post pretty much answered your question.  Presently, there are no such options available.  My earlier post was to demonstrate the efficacy of your your request (if it were possible), by showing the progress of a similar request.

S@h apps are currently on v8, and used for all distributed WUs.  V7 apps are like Windows 3.1, over and done with.  The app version is neither associated nor equated with the origin of the WUs, be they from Arecibo or GBT.  Perhaps you are confused by the app used for AP WUs.  That remains at v7, however, that is explained by the first two sentences on this page.
