I have never owned any Apple product and after watching "Jobs" I am glad I didn't contribute to his wealth. He may have been a genius but the way he treated his initial crew that helped get his company started was atrocious. Not to mention the mother of his daughter.

I agree. It's one of the various reasons why I can't stand Apple as a company. I wouldn't go so far as to call him a genius either. He's had his fair share of gaffes and faux paus, the most infamous in my memory being the time the iPhone was discovered to have a problem with it's internal antenna and people were experiencing dropped calls. His response? People are holding the phone wrong. For a guy that was supposedly all about the user experience (UX), if one of his minions would have said that to him he would have flew off the handle and fired the person on the spot.

Jobs was a Grade A jerkface and in my opinion doesn't deserve his reputation. Heck, without Steve Wozniak, the true genius behind early Apple, Jobs wouldn't have had any success at all without attaching himself to smart people and using them. Wozniak was his friend and he screwed him over from the early start!

If you knew other CEOs as well, there maybe a lot of things you wouldn't buy.

BTW, I have never owned an Apple product, but Jobs is not the reason.

I'd like to see that movie, and I think there's also a more recent one called, "Steve Jobs".

I don't think that one got many good reviews.

I don't recall saying Jobs was the only reason why I don't buy Apple.

You have to understand that the depiction of Steve Jobs was spun in the manner that the producers of the movie wished it to be, and cannot be taken as gospel.
He certainly was a man of abundant talents, and if he were not, Apple would not have become what it is.

Surely, he had help along the way, not the least of which was provided by his friend and confidant Steve Wozniak.....

But, you have to equally recognize that Wozniak probably could not have achieved it on his own without Job's corroboration.

No, I do not.
But that does not mean I cannot comment on things I DO know something about, even though not using them at present.

I think he was no more exceptional than any other CEO. In fact, due to Jobs' lack of leadership skills in his early company, he almost ruined it and alienated everyone else to the point that he was ousted. Obviously that was a mistake for the company and they had to bring him back, but not after he was taught a valuable lesson.

Surely, he had help along the way, not the least of which was provided by his friend and confidant Steve Wozniak.....

I think had Jobs not attached himself to Woz, Jobs would be just another ran CEO. Successful leaches like Jobs find talented people like Woz to propel themselves further than they would have gone otherwise. Jobs saw nothing unethical about the way he treated Woz and it ruined their friendship. This isn't a matter of the film portraying Jobs in a negative light, but a matter of fact that Woz has talked about previously.

Woz was/is a talented individual driven by his own need to improve and be challenged. Talented individuals driven by constant challenge always find success. Therefor, Woz would have found success with or without Jobs, but Jobs wouldn't have found success without leaching on talented individuals like Woz.

This is the one you all want to watch :)

Steve Jobs: The Man in the Machine (2015)

(and pretty much anything directed by Alex Gibney)
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0316795/#director

Of course I'd say that seeing as Mr. Gibney has a knack for "outing" narcissists & psychopaths ;)

I'm sure I've already mentioned these on the boards:
Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room (2005)
(10 years old and still one of my all time favorite docs!)

and I definitely remember getting a scolding from Major K when I brought up this lesser known gem:
Casino Jack and the United States of Money (2010)

(Park Ave., Taxi, WikiLeaks all awesome too and so were 2 sports-based ones: Last Gladiators and Catching Hell)

LOVE this guy!!

Funny thing happened last night while I was watching episodes of "That 70's Show". Kelso was bored with the size of the paddles on Red's pong game so he opened it up to try to figure out how to change the size of the paddles. Red discovered Kelso with the game box open and when he found out what Kelso was up to he offered to help. When they were done and had it back together they hooked it up and the desired result happened. Red said "do you know what this is a sign of?" Kelso replied "the start of home personal computers." Red said "no, it's a sign that I have a great soldering iron." What is ironic is that that show was taped in 1999, long before anyone thought of Ashton Kutcher playing the role of Steve Jobs

Thanks for that. I thought I had watched every Jobs film made since his death, but I missed this one. This one might be one of my more favorite ones made.
