This for me is still "unacceptable":
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/other-sports/transgender-brits-born-male-could-8343061

Not 'cause of the transgender itself...but 'cause of woman are not as strong as men are! So these athletes are in "ungiven born advantage" built in muscles...
Sad days for sports!
:(

So what about Caster Semenya or should we ban 7 foot basketball players?

The question is if it's about human rights issues or if it's about political correctness.
Whatever descision the IOC makes about this, many will disagree.
But the cases are very few so why bother.
https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/jan/25/ioc-rules-transgender-athletes-can-take-part-in-olympics-without-surgery
Former IOC medical commission chairman Arne Ljungqvist, who was among the experts involved in drafting the new guidelines, said the consensus was driven by social and political changes.
“It has become much more of a social issue than in the past,” he told Associated Press. “We had to review and look into this from a new angle. We needed to adapt to the modern legislation around the world. We felt we cannot impose a surgery if that is no longer a legal requirement.
“Those cases are very few, but we had to answer the question,” he added. “It is an adaptation to a human rights issue. This is an important matter. It’s a trend of being more flexible and more liberal.”

transgender

For the Olympics mmmm maybe after they had the operations and finished there treatments but competing in both female and male events , sorry your 1 or the other and they need to decide particularly going forward with new drugs and children being treated earlier . We know how hormones can enhance performance in sport so I say no.

Maybe sports should skip the gender division.
Instead divide contenders by their testosterone or other hormones blood levels.
Like in boxing and wrestling where the contenders are divided by weight.
A paradigm shift so to speak...

Had a feeling somthing like this might happen

THE EU has sparked outrage after trying to take credit for Britain's incredible haul of Olympic medals.

And here's a link to the story

They do like a mass-debates in Brussels ;-)

As we come to the end of the Olympics Australia get one last chance at a medal . In 40 mins they play Spain for the bronze medal and following that game the Dream Team take on Serbia whom beat the Boomers for the play off against the dream team .

Come on guys don't let me down at least get the Bronze .

And once the games are finished the closing ceremony will start . I'll watch a repeat of that thou bit to late to stay up .

In reply to those silly European claims a UK MP has done one for the British Empire.
British Empire - 396
Rest of the World - 320
EU (post Brexit) - 258

At least the EU exists, and will continue to exist post-Brexit. That total for the empire might have made sense before WWII (and probably not even then), today it makes none. Empire <> Commonwealth, no matter what some Brits might like to believe.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ...

Don't get uptight about it Bobby. We know the Empire does exist any longer. It was a humorous poke at the EU for suggesting they were a country.
