My response to the phone question, Do you have a Microsoft computer? My answer - I have 300 computers and they are all designed to attack Microsoft. Scammers hung up immediately.

Well, if they call me with that phony line; I can now tell them "That's GREAT! My MAC is working perfectly, then!!!" ;-) :-D

Sometimes they tell me my computer is sending out errors, so I ask them the error code. Sometimes they say it is a virus, so I ask them the IP address. Sometimes they say they are from Microsoft, and sometimes they don't. Sometimes I play with them, and sometimes I swear and hang up. One time the guy called me back and threatened my mother swearing more than I did. One time my wife asked the guy if he had parents, and when he said yes, she said his parents would be ashamed of him lying and scamming people. One time she told them that they were angering their Gods, which neither of us believe in. I have had at least 40 calls by these people. Many of the people I know have gotten these calls. People must be falling for the scam, because they are still calling.

I think I'll borrow that, they'll never know the difference. If they ever call Me.

I had one yesterday. After several minutes I told her that I could not understand her thick Indian accent, I told the second one I had 20 computers and asked which one was the culprit. Then I got transferred to a fellow who spoke pretty good English. I told him I used the 20 computers to create malware. He hung up but I did waste well over 5 minutes of their time.

I don't seem to get any calls like that but know people who do. I have more than once had to complete wipe and rebuild a system when someone let them in. I always tell my family and friends to ask them to call their IT tech (me). But they never seem to call me.

I get these calls. It's usually a problem with computers in my neighborhood that are being attacked by a virus and my computer has it. They want to then have their expert look at my computer remotely to find and fix it. I play along and when they find I have a Mac they hand me off to another guy. I play with him for awhile up to the point where they want me to load the remote user software. Oops, no time now I have to be somewhere. That occupied them for awhile.

I feel so left out. I've only had one of these calls personally, and I received one call while at work about 6 months ago.

I get 1 or 2 of these per month (claiming to be from Microsoft or Telstra) here and I'm quite surprised that my landline number hasn't been blacklisted by them yet with all the crap I've pulled on them over the years. :-D

Cheers.

I just do not have the patience to string these idiots on I just told the last one to go forth and multiply with prejudice (I wont write here what I said or I will get a very long ban ;-0). Although I have heard of people that have kept them going for as much as an hour or more.

The time I spend with depends a lot on my mood and what I'm doing at the time so most are very brief (in various forms) while a few may take 20-30mins if I'm that bored and need a good laugh. ;-)

Playing with them on loud speaker with a few friends around (while enjoying a few beers) are usually the funniest 1's though. :-D

Cheers.

I have never been on the receiving end of one of these calls. I guess that is because I rarely answer any call from a number I or my phone doesn't recognise. I have gotten a few calls recently from someone offering to help me with an unpaid school loan, to which I answer bluntly "I didn't then and do not now have any such loans' I then tell them that I have my phone registered with the national do not call registry and any further calls will be referred to them.
