Hi

I've run into a problem after upgrading my Windows this morning on this machine http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=7819651.
I get the message "GPU missing - waiting" on all my SoG applications in BOINC, instead BOINC starts to DL and run CUDA50 jobs one at a time, so it must have found the GPU.

I've been running SETI@home v8 8.12 windows_intelx86 (opencl_nvidia_SoG) jobs for months now on the GTX970.

Can someone help me with figuring out what the problem is?

If you let windows install the GPU drivers some important parts could be missing like OpenCL.

Always install the drivers from Nvidia.

1st of all you need to stop Windows 10 from updating your device drivers with those supplied by Microsoft (which are usually missing something, OpenCL support in this case).

http://winsupersite.com/windows-10/stop-automatic-driver-updates-windows-10

Then you need to rollback the driver to your last working 1 in the Device Manager, hopefully. If that doesn't work then just download and install the driver from Nvidia's own website.

Cheers.

If you did the "Anniversary Update" it installs the Windows drivers that do not have OpenCL

As Mike says just install the correct driver form the Nvidia website.

I had to do it to all 6 of my machines!!

PS Just seen Wiggos post, I had the driver update prevented, on all machines it was the upgrade to version 1607 that did it.

When I ran O&O shutup, driver updates were still prevented.

You appear to be running the same driver version as before (361.43) however it doesn't appear as though OpenCL is installed (looking at your last few work units). I would suggest that you do a clean re-install of the Nvidia Driver as a starting point.

cheers

Thanks for the fast responses.

I'm pretty sure I have disabled the automatic driver update from Windows, but I'll check again.
Then I'll try to install from NVIDIA's site.

As I said, if you installed the anniversary update, it is a complete re-install of Windows 10 and it installs the Windows driver, which has no OpenCL.

I have just upgraded all 6 of my Win 10 machines and it happened each time.

When doing a major upgrade in Win 10 I always suspend BOINC and then after the upgrade check the BOINC log and you can see the error.

It was the anniversary update - I first installed on my laptop with the GTX970M card and that works as a charm, but when updating my desktop, it lost the OpenCL.
Trying to install a clean install from NVIDIA's site at the moment, but it takes a while.... :o(

OK - the clean install seem to have done the trick, OpenCL is running now.

Thanks for the help to everyone. :o)
