Posting moon shots made me think of a couple of pix I took in January
2012. I only know that because my mac dates all of my photos. These were
dated 2012 January 26. It was a full moon, but I don't think it was a
special moon - no harvest moon or anything like that.

Like Bernie, I liked how the moon was framed by the tree branches.





I think I actually used my camera on a tripod for these.

I was posting some of my photos to my Wunderground blog because I needed to fill it up. Just discovered this thread looking for any posts on Carolyn status. Thought I would contribute. This photo is one I am proud of. Even had it printed out to picture frame size and have it hung in my computer den. It gets the most comments on my photo repository on Flickr.

Image is the Flame-Horsehead Nebula in Orion. Taken with my focal reduced ED80 refractor and my first CCD camera, the SBIG ST-2000XM. Taken at Mt. Pinos in So. California at 8300 feet.

With the software and hardware available today, it is actually pretty easy. Heck you can get an image from your cell phone taken through the telescope eyepiece if the subject is bright enough. The deep sky objects which I like to image are the ones that take hours of exposure to get deep enough data to process into a decent image. It is a LOT easier to get images with digital cameras compared to the films of yesterday.

Thanks for the compliment. Yes, I have many. If you View my account data, I have the URL for my Flickr astrophoto repository which you can check out if you are interested in deep sky imaging. The camera is the big grey square box attached to the back of the telescope hidden by my right shoulder in the pic. It is my large format camera, the SBIG STL-11000 CCD camera. It has as 35mm frame size. Same dimensions as 35mm film.

Many people do not know how to store and resize pic via a storage site such as Photobucket, which is so screwed with ads right now I would not even try to post some of the old kitty pics I have stored there.

Many people do not know how to store and resize pic via a storage site such as Photobucket, which is so screwed with ads right now I would not even try to post some of the old kitty pics I have stored there.

It's actually not that hard with photobucket, although I agree about the ads.

1. Click on the photo you want to resize.
2. Click on the little square with the little paintbrush inside. (At the top of your photo.)
3. Choose from the options above your photo.

If you resize you have the option of saving only the new, resized photo or both the smaller and the resized ones.

OK as I have posted a few trains in the other thread time for another ship here!!

This is the Trinity House tender and buoy layer Galatea.



Passing Yarmouth harbour, framed by the masts.

And I like this as it looks as though the cormorant that has just landed on the wall is waving!!



While this may belong in the "critters" thread I rather liked the way this came out as I had to shot it "blind".



It was sitting on top of the trellis above the level of the window so I had angle the camera up and take several shots, luckily some came out OK.

I have some trees for your cute little squirrel to climb.

Just took this picture from my front door, looking out into our front yard. I liked the way the sun was hitting the Lace bark elms. It's a young Birch in the foreground.

Today was very clear and cold, because I had things to do I went for my walk before the sun was fully up.

There had been a hard frost over night and the road up to the old fort looked like this.



It is very exposed here with the sea just a hundred yards or so to the right and no buildings close.

From the fort looking east you should be able to see the mainland to the left and Yarmouth to the right
Not today a large bank of mist was in the way.



Even a little way inland the frost had made the hedgerow look very seasonal.



When I got into Yarmouth, I could here the approaching ferry sounding its horn but could see nothing till it was quite close.



It was the rising sun that made for the best pictures.



Looking out across the River Yar estuary



Not sure which is my favourite.



Probably the second one.
