I decided to have a tinker and upgrade one of my boxes from 6.10.58 to 7.6.22. There were some issues which I think are memory related but I'll look at those later. In the end, I re-installed 6.10.58. It launched and was fine. Has been that way for a few days. I just checked the box to see how things were going and behold Boinc is now running 7.6.22 again (even though I did not re-install it).

Is there something that I need to know about with 7.6.22.

It won't let your PC download thousands of tasks! (47,000 in total for your 4)

The max is:
100 for all CPUs on mobo +
100 per GPU

In your case that's 300 tasks for each of your 4 PCs.

When Downgrading BOINC from newer to older BOINC; you MUST Re-Install the older BOINC TWICE over the new BOINC. Don't ask me why; I have no clue how this works, it just does.

I can't even remember who told me about this; nor when I was told... Sometime after 2006. I've done this a couple times myself. Once you've finished installing the older BOINC for the second time over the newer BOINC; you may launch BOINC, and it will then start up and run fine.

I re-installed twice just after this post and the old 6.10.58 skin appears but under the hood it's 7.6.22.

I know this because:
1) it's telling me that I have CUDA and OPENCL on both GPUs, which should not be the case with 6.10.58
2) there is a line in the message tab that saying that I have upgraded from 6.10.58 -> 7.6.22

I'll try re-installing twice or twice+ and see how that goes. If it's not to successful, I may have to blow BOINC away and re-install from scratch which is what I am trying to avoid.

I had a Homer moment. I forgot to re-boot after doing the install twice. When I rebooted it appears to have righted itself and is now running 6.10.58
