We used to have two competing political parties. One wanted more power and control, the other wanted to push as much power and authority down to the lowest level. We don't have that anymore.

Never did. We had one party that wanted to control the bedroom and the other wanted to control the wallet. It was inevitable that control would win.

Gary Johnson for President.

So you have the luxury to throw muslims, blacks, women, homesexuals, hispanics and so on under the bus to salve your conscience? Because in this regard there is a clear difference between the candidates that are likely to win.

This is "identity politics", is it not? I think you know me well enough, including through my recent posts, regarding what I think about discrimination.

However, a case has been made (one I believe) that if we handled the economic problems of Main Street, not Wall Street, the puppet masters would have a much smaller audience trying to play divide and conquer with the 99%.

I could try to present you links making the argument.

One was posted by a black friend of mine on social media. "Racebaiting: 101". It addressed our implicit 3 tier caste system. Another source is internet pundit Kyle Kulinski.

Trump offers so many positions and speaks so negatively, it is hard to believe he will help economically and will not discriminate.

Hillary will not be another Obama. She's even further right of the neo-liberal rightist Obama. She''ll probably make token to good faith efforts in the identity politics realm, reducing discrimination, but still 99% of us will be thinking about the economics of Main Street.

Johnson has a much smaller chance, but if he got in would probably throw us under the economic bus as well.

Stein might try to help both reduce discrimination and help economically, but she's got even less of a chance than Johnson, would have a heck of a fight with both houses of Congress if she were elected and I still wants to know where she stands on anti- or pseudo-science things.

I don't think we have ANY decent choices.

Racebaiting 101; i.e., it's the Main STreet Economy, Es.

Establishment Democrats Are Worried About The Clinton Foundation /

As well they should be...

Here is an interesting story about the..... mess.

http://nypost.com/2016/08/22/feds-find-thousands-more-clinton-emails/

A newly released trove of emails from Hillary Clinton’s top aide Huma Abedin shows she repeatedly did favors for high-dollar contributors to the Clinton Foundation — including a foreign national with a criminal record that made her nervous.

...

In more than a dozen email exchanges, Abedin provided expedited, direct access to Clinton for donors who had contributed from $25,000 to $10 million to the Clinton Foundation.

...

I also saw a segment on this on the Anderson Cooper 360 'show' tonight on CNN...

One wonders what the odds would be to get the FBI director on obstruction of justice charges for declining to charge Clinton with even a few of the numerous that felon has committed...

#Texit

Don't blame me, I voted for Johnson(L) in 2016.

Truth is dangerous... especially when it challenges those in power.

Different 'take'.

In the Real Politic World of Washington: He went as far as he could.

His personal, and unannounced public listing of his 'Bill of Particulars', was very Politically Powerful.

Yes... Unannounced, so 'They' couldn't stop him.

This was not about Right Vs. Wrong. But Possible vs. Not Possible.

So... It MOST CERTAINLY IS about Right vs. Wrong... Else, the Constitutional Rule of Law is truly dead.

Ayn Rand wrote:
“Money is the barometer of a society’s virtue. When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion–when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing–when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors–when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don’t protect you against them, but protect them against you–when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice–you may know that your society is doomed. Money is so noble a medium that does not compete with guns and it does not make terms with brutality. It will not permit a country to survive as half-property, half-loot”

Well I sure as h311 have been saying this all along and all I get is flak from many in here. Follow the damn rules and we'll fix ourselves. Seems many in here think it's ok for the ruling class to exempt themselves from the rules. I DON'T.
Which rules? The ones you think should exist or the ones the ruling class wrote and got passed that exempt them?

A guy down the road from me has an elect Ross Perot sign in his yard.
I don't even know if he is still alive. But If he is. If he ever said I'm running as a write in candidate, I would vote for him.
This is the crappiest election Ive ever seen so far (I'm sure it will get worse in future years.)
A far as I'm concerned we have two assclowns running for President.

In four years you will wish you had two choices as good as these two. Our system is broke as it is all about the game now, not running the country.

Having second thought regarding my subscription.

I agree with you, after fifty years I decided that I
no longer needed a newspaper editor to lie to me about
the con' any more. All I do now is just figure who is
making what money from any issue, and all is then clear
to me.
Again I say, we think you should fix this condition as
soon as you can before even more hurt happens.
Of course Canada is moving in to a similar circumstance,
hopefully we may use your experience as a guide to our
own restoration.

This also replies to your recent post in the GJ thread ... .

1) We have the candidates we have, in part, because in some states independents cannot take part in primaries or caucuses. Must I fake agreeing with one party more in order to be able to help narrow the field? Hopefully to a better field?

2) Corrupting money from the donor class. Should we be looking into organizations seeking to get each state to call for a constitutional convention working for the repeal of the Citizens United ruling? Organizations such as Wolf-Pack and Represent.Us? Can these gain "bipartisan" and independent support?
