I'm a newby here, so I can't have the luxury to play high level with my Boincs...: swapping WU to decide whichever app to use is out of the question yet, so I have to play rough for the moment. Ok, the premise : I7 with 8 cores HT. Had a 660 ti Nvidia card but now, since it is dead, is running pure CPU crunching. This evening I want to add a spare ATI 7800 card, but I do have a lot of "GPU Missing, waiting to run ( CUDA GPU missing ), so I believe that adding a Radeon would not take over the orphan job. My instict would be to not ask for any further work, abort the GPU work on queue, then reinstall Lunatics, with ATI directive and then start Boinc. Knowing very badly the environment I'm playing with, my fear is that aborting a hundred of job, this would damage someone else's work, for whom I'm the wingman ( ok this is bad english, but it was not easy for me to explain...) Any thought about it ? Thanx A. |

Aborting the tasks - under those circumstances - would probably be the best thing for your wingmates, and would be appreciated by them. Once you report the tasks as aborted, replacement copies will be generated automatically by the server, and within a few hours they will be sent out to replacement wingmates. That is preferable to waiting for a month or more until the deadline expires. I'd also suggest that you temporarily reduce your requested cache size, so that if you have any teething troubles with the new card, fewer tasks have to be disposed of this way. |
