Hello all,
I installed BoincLogX a while back, and I noticed a few days ago the default log folder wasn't even created by the program...so I created it, and after 4 days it is still empty (and no hidden files either).
The logs are saved somewhere since I can see thousands of entries when I right-click the BoincLogX taskbar icon and select: Show History.
What I find even stranger, the other program by the same author: SETI@home MapView
is obviously finding those logs since it makes a sky map of the most interesting S@H results from that PC.
Yet, that software is also configured to find the log files in the same folder.
Does anyone know where those logs might be found?
Cheers,
RobG :-}

Just found them while doing a defrag:
C:\Users\{userAccount}\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\BoincLogX\logs

Looks like my parameters were saving 4 files/S@H task, including the incoming task file from the server...for a total of 3GB since early May!
Oops!!! lol

Just found them ...

The BoincLogX logs are where You put them, there is a Setting
Mine are in:
h:\Programs.Vis\Science\BoincLogX\logs\

The "default log folder wasn't even created by the program" because it is sub-directory to the install directory which by default is in Program Files
And new Windows (Vista, 7) don't allow writing in Program Files

Moral: Try to Not install old programs/games (made for Windows XP, 98) in Program Files
Make your own directory (e.g. C:\Programs_XP) and install old programs there.

The BoincLogX logs are where You put them...

Not if Windows decides you don't have administrative authority to put them there (such as in a Programs folder, as you noted), in which case they sometimes wind up in an alternate "Virtual Store" reality, which appears to be what happened in this case. It's a User Account Control thing. The program still thinks it's writing them to the user- or application-specified folder and, in most cases, can still read them, but if you go looking for them in Windows Explorer, they don't appear to exist. That drove me crazy when I first started using Windows Vista, but UAC was such a headache for so many reasons, I finally just turned it off. Virtual Store problem solved.

Make your own directory (e.g. C:\Programs_XP) and install old programs there.

Yep, if you make your own, hopefully UAC will let you and your programs write to it.
