Message 1799550 - Posted: 30 Jun 2016, 2:46:21 UTC

Hi, relatively new user so my apologies in advance if I'm not completely dialed in. I've been working on a solution myself for the past few days but no luck.

Ever since the latest BOINC update (v7.4.51) on June 24, BOINC has refused to download new workunits to my Samsung S6. It did empty its processing queue, uploading my last few workunits back to the servers as they were completed. I've removed/reinstalled a few times with no change.

I have been running S@H on this Android with no issues over most of this year, through multiple prior updates with no issues at all.

Looking at the event log, I'm getting a series of "No tasks are available for SETI@home v8" etc. I am also running S@H on my laptop and it continues to get new tasks - even through the 'mobile hotspot' provided by my Android. Looking at my account on the S@H website, I can even see the updated timestamps of my Android 'checking in' to my account (i.e. "Last contact: ...").

I think I'm pretty savvy with my 'Preferences' settings on the Android BOINC client, and have certainly unchecked the box, "Transfer tasks on WiFi only" and looked over the other related settings in detail.

So I've been living with the "Nothing to do, Waiting for tasks..." message while my (slow) laptop is merrily cranking away on newly-received units over the past week.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance,

Another clarification, I am repeatedly indicating "Update" in the /Projects/SETI@Home/ menu selection (and "Allowing New Tasks" as well). After requesting 'Update', it does its normal 5 minute countdown, gets nothing, goes through the countdown a few more times, then gives up. I can go through this routine an unlimited number of times with no success. :-(
Thanks,

I'm having the same problem on my S6 Edge+

It's also not showing my cpu anymore in my computer list for this device...
(just the number of cores)

Fantastic, thanks for that - am not an ace at searching the forums yet. :-o

Reinstalled the earlier version and am back to running again. I turned off auto-update for BOINC as well (this is all pretty new to me) and will monitor info re: any new versions.

Thanks again,

I checked the BOINC fora for your issue & didn't find anything.
I would guess the missing CPU information for the host is likely the cause.

This problem has already been reported separately in the google groups [boinc-android-testing] group,

Expect a Boinc version after 7.4.52 to fix it.

Thanks for your replies.

7.4.53 didn't fix it so I'll have to wait a little longer...

Why don't you all go to older BOINC version (7.4.43) until this is fixed?:

My default (different devices) was 40°C and I found 50° (to avoid frequent pauses) tends to work on my phones- the heat is distributed through the Whole device, and usually the battery stops charging when it's close to that temp anyway.

Raised it to 47C works good my phone doesn´t get that hot so seti runs nonstop while it´s charging.

Any news about the latest BOINC android client not getting workunits?

OP here; I've seen a few BOINC/Android software updates post since I opened this thread, but have yet to hear any reports of this issue being resolved so just standing pat here - still happily running version 7.4.43 ...

I am having this same issue, and the old version will not install on my phone.

Is there another thread to follow, which has updates on progress of a new version?
