Message 1798804 - Posted: 26 Jun 2016, 10:52:22 UTC - in response to Message 1798803.

The new prime minister should only come from the Leave camp, former Conservative leader Iain Duncan Smith has said.

I suppose so. Then why all this wriggling and evasion on both Remain and Leave sides on the evident matter of notifying the European Council of UK's decision to exit? Isn't it best to get the whole sorrowful shebang over and done with asap?

Probably because Cameron allegedly said "I'm not going to this sh*t job, I'll leave it to my successor"

We are starting worrying here...
Britain will survive brexit in the long term. It is worse for Sweden in the EU now that the British leave, says Maria Borelius (formerly M-Minister) of the EU Reform think tank Open Europe. - The British backed us as non-euro country, she says.
- I'm worried for the EU and for Sweden. Britain has protected the role of Sweden as non-euro country. Sweden would not join the euro, but I am concerned that the Commission will now urge that Sweden should do it.

When Britain disappear from the EU, we are losing an important defense skills and an important ally of Sweden on issues of free trade within the EU, says Borelius.

- Now all of a sudden the majority who support free trade are less than the protectionist part of the EU. I think that is harmful to Sweden.

Oh holy cow. I do understand this, partially. But shouldn't an immediate resignation be appropriate now?

Not until he gets the next pay step so he can get that in his pension.

Message 1798845 - Posted: 26 Jun 2016, 15:09:08 UTC

Europe woke up on Friday morning & were shocked. Many were asking why? Others stated that they felt the same way, that the EU had gone way beyond it's original purpose. YET no one had the courage to stand up. Britain did.

The Greek Finance Minister told it as it was, the Troika refused to listen & wanted him out of the room. Cameron tried & just like Chamberlain came back with a worthless piece of paper.

It was reported yesterday that the EU has to reduce its budget by 10%. That's a huge amount & all because one country left.

The furore on all sides since Friday morning makes one wonder...

...was the EU as blind as the Americans at Pearl Harbor?

This has been building up for the past decade at least, so as far as I'm concerned any shock shown is false.

Democracy won & those that want that changed, go live in a dictatorship somewhere.

Don't blame me, I voted for Johnson(L) in 2016.

Thank you. However, I didn't like saying it but it had to be said.

I've never liked 2 party systems, & even though we have others, for quite some time, we only have the 2 major ones.

In the case of Brexit, we not only let Europe have it, but both our main parties as well.

Just as I said it, Merkel came out & said it: -

Take time to reflect then move on. Many of the points I made here & on the series of Europe threads are now actually being said by politicians on all sides.

Should Germany continue on their "spiteful" path, the EU is dead & buried.

My main worry is America at the moment...

...Trump or Clinton? What the hell has happened to the United States of America?

Democracy was damaged. Damaged because the EU is a democracy.

In a democracy you have to accept the decision that goes against you. Not agitate that a decision that goes against you means that it is a dictatorship because you are right and they are wrong (because they aren't like you).

Populism destroys democracy. Populism is the breeding ground of dictators.

Watch out UK. You have your warning.

The machines of war will rumble across Europe again.

It's been stated that both France & Germany will be holding elections next year with many there being fearful of a backlash caused by Brexit as many in Europe are disenfranchised.

Might not have that long to wait to find out...

Spanish voters head back to polls

...maybe Brexit forces them to make their minds up regarding the EU?

Europe is dead! Long live Europe

Oh a lot of them in America it seems...
