Did anyone else get that non solicited email from Berkeley today entitled: "News: Advanced manufacturing, Olympian construction, Materials Project" Wondering why after 18 years of being with this proghram, they felt to utilize the SETI@home mailing list to send out unsolicited e-mails? All the best, Aaron Lephart |

1.) I haven't. Yep. I'd suggest checking the email details, I doubt the email originated from Berkeley. EDIT- too late, Zalster & Mr Kevvy beat me to it. Later had a thought about being on a mailing list from previous emails to Seti. Grant Darwin NT |

Wondering why after 18 years of being with this proghram, they felt to utilize the SETI@home mailing list to send out unsolicited e-mails? You have a green star, ergo you donated through berkeley.edu. UBC only sees you as a donor to UBC, not that it was specifically for the SETI@Home program. There is an Unsubscribe at the bottom, of course. Last thing I wanted to see was that face in my email from Berkeley |

Yes, I received it also. The main clue is that the email came from the UC Berkeley regents. If you have ever donated to the project, you are in their mailing list. I get regular emails from them whenever they want to promote or advertise some recent accomplishment that the University achieved. If you look at the bottom of the email there is a link to unsubscribe from emailings. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |
