‘God is a mathematician’

The universe did not form by accident, according to a top scientist.

There are several more articles he has written.

The existence of God may be proven with a theory, according to the world-renowned theoretical physicist Michio Kaku. According to the scientist, using theoretical particles called primitive semi-radius tachyons could be used to conclude if a Higher Being really exists once and for all.

Poorly-written article, ie "After running some tests on these particles..." Those hypothetical, never-observed, staple-of-cheap-sci-fi particles, the tachyons? How is anyone "running some tests" on them? Oh, thought experiments. The title is also clickbait with a typo: "Scientist Michio Kaku Finally Proves God Exist" (yes, there's a missing "s" at the end) but then the first sentence "The existence of God may be proven with a theory..." Uh huh.

I guess he's angling for a Templeton. :^p I'm betting this line of inquiry won't result in anything else.

Oh my God:)
He must have been read "Our Mathematical Universe" by Max Tegmark.

Oh. He have:)
"Daring, Radical. Innovative. A game changer. If Dr. Tegmark is correct, this represents a paradigm shift in the relationship between physics and mathematics, forcing us to rewrite our textbooks. A must read for anyone deeply concerned about our universe." —Prof. Michio Kaku, author of Physics of the Future

If they are correct then it also means that there are multiverses out there.
Max is very inspired by late Hugh Everett III's work from the 50's.

PARALLEL WORLDS, PARALLEL LIVES.

Proponents of one of the multiverse hypotheses include Stephen Hawking,[16] Brian Greene,[17][18] Max Tegmark,[19] Alan Guth,[20] Andrei Linde,[21] Michio Kaku,[22] David Deutsch,[23] Leonard Susskind,[24] Alexander Vilenkin,[25] Yasunori Nomura,[26] Raj Pathria,[27] Laura Mersini-Houghton,[28][29] Neil deGrasse Tyson,[30] and Sean Carroll.[31]

Scientists who are generally skeptical of the multiverse hypothesis include: Nobel laureate Steven Weinberg,[32] Nobel laureate David Gross,[33] Paul Steinhardt,[34] Neil Turok,[35] Viatcheslav Mukhanov,[36] Michael S. Turner,[37] Roger Penrose,[38] George Ellis,[39][40] Joe Silk,[41] Adam Frank,[42] Marcelo Gleiser,[42] Jim Baggott,[43] and Paul Davies.[44]

Sorry, I have already proven some time ago that she does not exist--at least at the present time-- by using formal logic and coming to a contradiction using Modus Ponens.

Yes.
But can you use logic in for instance the quantum world?
Scientists says no.
Perhaps God is lurking in there somewhere...

The existence of God cannot be neither proven nor unproven. C'est un pari, you must bet, said Blaise Pascal who was both a mystic and a mathematician.

Michio Kaku: Is God a Mathematician? was uploaded on youtube already in 2013.

Strange that so many "media" outlets are writing about this now.
Whatever. Michio is a very good communicator.

Many people have had a close encounter with God. I shall name only a few: Hildegarde von Bingen, the unknown British monk author of the "Cloud of the unknowing", Juan de La Cruz, Teresa de Avila, and Georges Bernanos in modern times. The same experience has been described by Hindu and Islam mystics.

A lot of people also have had close encounters with Santa Claus.

Even more in context with this place: how many people have claimed to been abducted by aliens, including the requisite nasty medical exams? This is about as far from the actual science of SETI as one can get, just as Michio Kaku has just gotten about as far from the actual science of physics as one can get.

Strange that so many "media" outlets are writing about this now.

The repetition of bad ideas is certainly nothing new, especially ones where a seeming scientific authority figure claims to be able prove unprovable things ie the existence or non-existence of god(s) etc. Of course some parts of the media are going to forgo due diligence and jump at some guaranteed clicks or newspaper sales (we've already seen one misleading headline from it in the linked article.)

You can write down what traits are necessary for your god to exist. id est:

If there is a god she must be merciful
If there is a god she must be compassionate
If there is a god then she must not demand retribution
If there is a god she must not require worship
--------------------------------------------------
Etc.

If you accept these premises and you can prove that any of them are not in evidence then you have a valid and sound argument about the original supposition of existence. Ne pas ?

So does many shamans.
But usually they use drugs in order to get contact with God.
Or holy spirits at least.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shamanism
I think all these close encounters can be explained scientifically in the fields of medicin or psychiatry

After a couple of boilermakers in a ski lodge bar in upper Michigan, I went out on a frozen and frosty day to the backside of Boyne Mountain and I saw god: or so i reported to my fellow ski-clubbers.

Bach, Dante, Michelangelo, Milton, Mozart and Ludwig Van Beethoven, whose Missa Solemnis I am going to listen, have all drawn inspiration from what people call "fairy tales". What would our culture be without God?

The Greek and Latin literary masterpieces in Italy were saved by Benedictine monasteries, like Montecassino, which was uselessly destroyed by an American bomber raid in 1944 after having been destroyed by Lombards and Muslims in earlier centuries. Fortunately its library had been transferred to the Vatican in Rome by a Wehrmacht officer who was a Catholic.

What would our culture be without God?

I'm an agnostic, just in case.
I don't want to wind up in Dante's Inferno.
I have very big problem with religous people that always claims that there is a God. Period. What else?
Perhaps the question "What else?" is a more appropriate approach.

To me there are bigger questions.
How can a collection of atoms have self awareness?
The collection of atoms can even wonder how they came to be.
Even starting questions about if there is a God or not.
Mindgobbling...

Show me a Divina Commedia or a Mattheus Passio written by an atheist and I shall become an atheist too.

I'm wondering how long before this thread having wandered off, wanders into Politics.

This isn't about culture or art or religion. It's simply a scientist making bad scientific pronouncements based on shaky hypotheses on a controversial subject he has no business using his scientific authority on, and nothing else.

Show me a Divina Commedia or a Mattheus Passio written by an atheist and I shall become an atheist too.

Did you forget the works of Giuseppe Verdi? (Including a very nice Requiem.)

You are right, but I was not the first to speak of "fairy tales".

You threw down the challenge and asked for one, believing that Atheists can't create beautiful things. He gave you one like you asked for.
