Poorly-written article, ie "After running some tests on these particles..." Those hypothetical, never-observed, staple-of-cheap-sci-fi particles, the tachyons? How is anyone "running some tests" on them? Oh, thought experiments. The title is also clickbait with a typo: "Scientist Michio Kaku Finally Proves God Exist" (yes, there's a missing "s" at the end) but then the first sentence "The existence of God may be proven with a theory..." Uh huh.

I guess he's angling for a Templeton. :^p I'm betting this line of inquiry won't result in anything else.

I shall name only a few: Hildegarde von Bingen, the unknown British monk author of the "Cloud of the unknowing", Juan de La Cruz, Teresa de Avila, and Georges Bernanos in modern times. Even more in context with this place: how many people have claimed to been abducted by aliens, including the requisite nasty medical exams? This is about as far from the actual science of SETI as one can get, just as Michio Kaku has just gotten about as far from the actual science of physics as one can get.

The repetition of bad ideas is certainly nothing new, especially ones where a seeming scientific authority figure claims to be able prove unprovable things ie the existence or non-existence of god(s) etc. Of course some parts of the media are going to forgo due diligence and jump at some guaranteed clicks or newspaper sales (we've already seen one misleading headline from it in the linked article.)

You can write down what traits are necessary for your god to exist. id est:

If there is a god she must be merciful
If there is a god she must be compassionate
If there is a god then she must not demand retribution
If there is a god she must not require worship

If you accept these premises and you can prove that any of them are not in evidence then you have a valid and sound argument about the original supposition of existence. Ne pas ?

What would our culture be without God?

I'm an agnostic, just in case.
I don't want to wind up in Dante's Inferno.
I have very big problem with religous people that always claims that there is a God. Period. What else?
Perhaps the question "What else?" is a more appropriate approach.

To me there are bigger questions.
How can a collection of atoms have self awareness?
The collection of atoms can even wonder how they came to be.
Even starting questions about if there is a God or not.
Mindgobbling...

This isn't about culture or art or religion. It's simply a scientist making bad scientific pronouncements based on shaky hypotheses on a controversial subject he has no business using his scientific authority on, and nothing else.
