One of the great hockey players. He survived after his career in a brutal sport quite a long time.

Howe was Wayne Gretzky's idol.
Howe played with the jersey number 9 so, of course, Gretzky's had two nines on his classic jersey and the number 99 was born:)

One will never know. Gordie played under different rules than Wayne. Back in the day the puck spent a lot of time frozen against the boards. A fight wasn't limited to the guys on the ice, both benches poured onto the ice. There was no trapezoid behind the net. If the goalie didn't need stitches you didn't interfere with him.

The Great One has a lot of respect for Mr. Hockey. Without Mr. Hockey, the Great One might never have been as there wouldn't have been hockey fans in the USA.

He played one of the world's most demanding games until he was 52 years old, and many fans argue that no one played it better.
His pro career of 2,421 games ran from World War II through Vietnam, Truman to Carter, Sinatra to the Sex Pistols.
He lasted so long that he played professionally with his children.

That is what I call Great.
