Bert Newton , almost got a punch in the face from Ali at the T.V week logies awards (bit like your Oscars) when Bert says "I like the boy " after Ali says something funny , Ali looks at him and Bert new he said something wrong and the director of the shows tells Bert you can't say that .

Bert say "what's wrong with that" . What is said in one country does not all ways mean what it may be said in America or have the connotations it may over your way .

Yes Jan that is true but then if your any good you shouldn't get to many blows to the head .
That's what made Ali so good he was able to flout like a butterfly and sting like a bee and miss most of the blows only remember him going down once . I'm not so shore thou the Boxing caused his Parkinson's
Michael j .Fox didn't box and he has it so makes you wonder if it was the boxing or something else . I guess one day they will find a genetic reason for it . After all Huntington's gene wasn't found till 1993 even thou the disease was know for a long time before they found the genes that cause it .

I remember sawing Jörn Donner meeting Ali:)

Jörn was a journalist and later member of the Finland Parlaiment.
The two of them should have a "heavy weight talkshow" in a sport arena in Stockholm.
It never happened though.

The skier Ulrike Maier had a helmet but that got stuck in a safety net and her neck was broken.
Now that was accidents, not like in boxing where you aim to the head!

Judo , Ta Kwon Do , Karate all have hits to the head MMA even more so and the idea is to wilfully hit someone in the head to knock them out

Much racism is expressed in the form of a joke. It is called institutional racism. The speakers swear they don't mean anything by it, but it wouldn't resonate [be funny] if they didn't. It still stings to the culture being made fun of.

Boxing should be illegal.

I totally agree, plus we should all do what is
necessary to eliminate the social economic conditions
in place that make it necessary for young people to be
forced to use fight sports to get ahead in this wonderful
caring system we have. Just think a fair society for all.
Of course it will not happen, and people will always complain,
but they will soon forget the issue. After all life is a busy
thing to peruse and one can't do everything.

I don't know the answer to that question.
Personally, at the age of 59, I find myself dealing with the consequences of a lifetime spent playing football. There's no telling how many thousands of times my poor little brain was slightly or heavily scrambled in the years 1967 to 1984.

I came up when the helmet was used as a weapon by us linemen during every play and the head slap, or forearm club, was permitted.
Form tackling was the preferred method of attack on the ball carrier, which is to say, driving one's forehead into the chest or helmet of the person you were tackling to keep them from gaining that extra yard as they were going to the ground.

Every play run during games and practices meant contact to the head if you played on either side of the ball in a line position.
Little regard was given to brain injuries such as concussions in the old days and I either kept playing after getting my "bell rung" or was sent back in very quickly after the how many fingers am I holding up test.

Do I regret playing? Sometimes I do.
Would I ban these types of sports? No, but I'd support outlawing kids under the age of 15 participating and I'd take even greater care to oversee the treatment of head injuries.

The problem of banning boxing would just drive it underground, where there would little or no regulation, thus more deaths and injuries.

One aspect not mention about boxing is that that boxing clubs are generally in deprived areas where young lads (and lasses) are taught discipline to control their aggression, and steer them away from life of crime and/or anti social behaviour.

Though not a boxing fan, I believe that overall more good, than bad comes out of boxing.
