"Application setiathome_8.0 has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware..." Anyone have any suggestions on what might be causing this? I have had some trouble with my graphics card... it's not a heat issue. And I have plenty of RAM. Any suggestions much appreciated. Cheers, Steve "Careful Johnny. They might be cannibals...!" |

Thanks Brent. Could you please tell me where I might find that? Steve, I would shut down and restart BOINC, assuming those error messages are presented when you start the application. This will make it so only the relevant info is in the log, and not all the other task stuff that you'd want to edit out before you post the reply. Once it's up and running again, go into the main BOINC manager screen, at the top menu click on Tools, then Event Log. Once the Event Log screen is pulled up, there is a button at the bottom called Copy All. Click on that, then go back to your browser, bring up this thread, and paste the info into a new post (right click and paste works well, otherwise control-V works as well). I think this is what they are looking to see. Hope this helps. |

A thought ... If BOINC is installed as a service, I remember that it won't use GPUs, this could be a message relating to that. |

The failed result uploaded to the server should be more relevant or informative than those messages in the Event Log, in my opinion, because that is the finished result and not what is visible while running a given task. But it also depends on the error being encountered as well. As usual, blame most things to such things like dust, heat, or humidity. Not forgetting static electricity either, which could be present. For one thing there may be errors related to the drivers. Next you may have possible errors related to a task which is not driver related, but more to the way the task has been processed. As usual, the error number being returned from such a task should give a clue about the possible error, but in the same way as a Seti@home task is Choosing Optimal Functions before next continuing, the result for a similar PrimeGrid task between two or more computers could become validated by means of its residue. If a task is having a error, you first look at the reason for such an error happening before next trying to determine what was in the task that made the error happening. |
