Thanks, I would imagine it would be a nightmare to figure out the logic with all the available video cards out there.

Message 1802135 - Posted: 11 Jul 2016, 19:26:53 UTC - in response to Message 1802109.

Has there been any word on the staff's progress in implementing the "No guppie tasks to Nvidia Cards" option in our preferences?

Hey Brent,
I made a semi-automated batch file that transfers "suspended" CPU-assigned tasks to the GPU queue.
So I transfer all CPU-assigned non-VLARs to the GPU by placing them in the Status: "Task suspended by user" before running my little prog.
After a few days, on a system where the CPU processes about as many VLARs (mostly guppi) as the GPU processes non-VLARS, the GPU queue ends up being full of only non-VLARs.
In effect, this creates what you are you are looking for.
Obviously, on systems where the GPU(s) process(es) much more than the CPU cores, this would/might not be a solution depending on the ratio of VLAR to non-VLAR coming from the server.
PM if you'd like me to send you the batch file.
Cheers,
Rob ;-)
PS:
- The reason I created this batch file is to be able to transfer specific batches of CPU tasks to the GPU in order to test specific scenarios for Raistmer's latest GPU apps.
- I am looking for feedback on my little prog so if anyone else would like to have a look at it, just PM me. I went overboard on the documentation so I am hoping it will be simple for most to understand.

Is anyone else experiencing a problem with uploads and scheduler requests?

Keith Myers has been complaining about Errors while downloading, but nobody else has mentioned it. His Kaspersky anti-virus is possibly implicated.

I haven't seen any more download issues since white-listing the download servers in the AV program. I believe the issue is resolved. Haven't seen any other download or scheduler issues for my 3 crunchers in several days.

It's the same here....
Probably due to a certain poster jacking his name to a ridiculous length.
If he could be persuaded to change it to something more sane, I suspect the forum would return to it's usual format.

Good catch Mark, methinks you are correct. Dull who was once a worm has figured out how to screw things up.

I have posted a request in politics for him to reduce it so as not to stretch the forum so much. We shall see.

Meow.

EDIT...
And he has done so.

How much does CPU usage effect GPU speed?
I am using .3 CPU for my GPU wu's.

With that CPU and the tasks that your GPU is doing I hope that you're only doing 1 CPU task max at any 1 time (unless you're out of GPU work of course) though you may get better results by not doing any CPU tasks at all with your setup.

Cheers.

I'm sorry, but it's been an extremely long day here, I thought that you meant you were doing 3 GPU tasks so forget my post. ;-)

Cheers.

Doing two and my GPU starts trashing. I was wondering if changing the amount of the CPU core usage from what I have it at will speed up GPU tasks.

How many CPU tasks are you running ?
Maybe its better you are starting a new thread and i will see what we can do.

I got a notice from somebody. It may have been an automated response. It stated that I had problems with my cruncher and it needed to be looked at.

I goofed yesterday. I updated Crimson to the latest drivers and added another wu to the GPU workload. Let it run and checked it today and the poop has hit the fan. My cruncher has trashed a number of Wu's. So I put the GPU back in its happy spot and I'm letting the cruncher run. I know there are some wonky Wu's to come through still. I will monitor the numbers to see if I have to roll back the drivers. I hope not.

I wish I had read the notice before I look at my numbers. The notice was gone when I looked back to read it fully. It said something about spike, maintainence and reboot.

I probably saw the same notice on my 64-bit Windows Vista computer today, so it may not be just you. However, that notice needs to be a little more clear about whether the problem is at the client end of the connection or the server end.

No recent changes or problems for that computer's GPU.

I get the feeling that tape blc7_2bit_guppi_57403_70165_HIP11048_OFF_0007 4.8 GB is stuck it has been at (40) for a number of days now

I mentioned about blc7_2bit_guppi_57403_70165_HIP11048_OFF_0007 been in position (40) for some time about month and 12 days ago. I noticed it is still in the same place. Is it start or still waiting to be processed? Is it with somebody notifying Jeff or Matt about it via email if they haven't already? I notice the blc 7 work is currently being processed. Could this mean there is hope? I hope so. I also noticed there are a few other small tapes in the queue. I am aware it doesn't work this way, I would have thought they would have processed the 1st to get them out the way

The tapes on the SSP are displayed in alpha-numeric order, not tape load order. As far as I'm aware they are split in FIFO sequence.
Short tapes happen when the telescope only has a very short observation time, or only a little bit of data remained to be transfred to tape at the end of a run.

And when the server processes are stopped and restarted - say for Tuesday maintenance - the splitters appear to start working on the most recently loaded batch, rather than resuming older batches.

not at all, they're working on the smallest number of blc*
