Lovely jubbley...

...Turkey tells the EU to get stuffed

Yes good for Turkey, they can then keep their "vague" terrorist laws.

BBC Turkey correspondent Mark Lowen says Mr Erdogan's hard rhetoric will please his support base but will alarm European leaders.
In recent months, he says, the government has used the terms "terrorist" or "terrorist supporter" to prosecute critics including journalists, suggesting they are supporting Kurdish militants or other armed organisations.

We need more countries locking up journalist for uncovering scandals.

Because you don't show you hand to the other party in a negotiation?

Uhh... no. If the public was aware of what was in it before it was a done deal (similarly to the ACA), there just might be a whole lot of politicians out of a job.

It isn't a done deal until it is ratified and at that point it will be open to inspection. And with a many party deal, that can take a while to get them all to ratify.

Hmm, maybe he will become the next PM :-) At least he has more guts than "Call me Dave"

Boris speaks his mind

"Mr Johnson said European history had seen repeated attempts to rediscover the "golden age of peace and prosperity under the Romans".

"Napoleon, Hitler, various people tried this out, and it ends tragically. The EU is an attempt to do this by different methods," he said.

"But fundamentally what is lacking is the eternal problem, which is that there is no underlying loyalty to the idea of Europe.

"There is no single authority that anybody respects or understands. That is causing this massive democratic void.""

Sigh, a "teacher" who can't order events in history ...

The colonies: before independence.
These United States: after independence, before constitution.
The United States: title in constitution.

No wonder our children are utterly unprepared for life. And to think he is getting a fat union pension for that service on the taxpayers backs ...

Sigh

Hmmm, I recall mentioning this some time ago only to be castigated for advocating war. It's a shame that many only see no further than their nose and/or see only what they want to see.

Uprising on the cards - be nice if it occurs around Easter :-)

""If Europe cannot act together to persuade a significant majority of its citizens that it can gain control of its migratory crisis then the EU will find itself at the mercy of a populist uprising, which is already stirring," he added."

Sorry old chap, it's been stirring for some time.

Well come 23rd June, we'll see how many "deserters" in the country.

Oh dear, poor Belgium

"A lack of funding is at the heart of the strike. Guards are protesting against cuts to staff numbers and working conditions. The government has been trying to reduce spending in a country with a bloated bureaucracy.

The situation is out of control, according to Alexis Deswaef, president of the Belgian Human Rights League.

"It's a complete violation of article three of the European Convention of Human Rights," he told the BBC, referring to prohibition of inhuman or degrading treatment."

Yet...

I didn't know this about Churchill.

Winston Churchill was one of the first to call for the creation of a
‘United States of Europe’. Following the Second World War, he was convinced
that only a united Europe could guarantee peace. His aim was to eliminate the
European ills of nationalism and war-mongering once and for all.

Probably they want us to speak german as well.
Titles in Germany are very important.
For instance I have problem to distinguise Herr Merkel from Herrn Merkel.
Oops. Wrong gender:) On the other hand she got balls...

Wales and Scotland.
Much of Britain's EU criticism is perceived here more English rather than British.

"Nid gwleidyddiaeth wrong arfer" - not old common policy - it says proudly above the entrance to Plaid Cymrus office in west Cardiff, Wales.

Scottish National Party SNP has also provided a clear warning.
If the British, against the Scots will, decides to leave the EU in the referendum held on June 23, Scotland will require a new independence vote.

Opinion polls have shown that the British are more concerned that Scotland should leave the UK than Britain to leave the EU.

Perhaps Northern Ireland have the same feeling.

Probably misplaced beliefs by the other nations, the EU directives etc. are shielded from them by London. And on immigration they don't see much of the illegal type, usually by the time immigrants reach their parts they have been screened several times and are legal.
