Message 1781359 - Posted: 22 Apr 2016, 20:07:21 UTC - in response to Message 1781357.

Vic, to install and run Windows 7 you only need a small cheap hard drive, not an expensive high capacity one - my main cruncher runs off a 160GB drive, with most of the data on an additional drive.
So, given your pecuniary state, I wouldn't look any further than :http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA5AD3KE4416 which is fifteen bucks for a new one, or ten bucks for a refurbished one - this is a lot less than the 85 to 90 bucks for the disk you want, but do not need.

I have everythin on one hdd, are you suggesting that erase stuff??????

I will not, what you imply is repugnant...

I like using a 2.5" hdd that is fast and yet is a low power device and like I said its all on one drive, I want to restore, not erase...

This drive can be found on ebay for about $40 with FREE shipping, if that, a used hdd is ok, they can be erased.

Vic, to run two HDD you DO NOT need to erase everything that is on your existing disk. It is quite simple - install Windows on your NEW disk, with ONLY that disk in the machine, install the second disk, and before you let Windows boot force the BIOS to only use your new disk as the boot device. Now let Windows boot, remove the "Windows" folder from the old disk, you will see lots of warnings, but they can be safely ignored. And there you have it, a dual disk machine, one for the operating system and one for the data and other stuff.

Forget it, I do not want to run two drives continously, if for the purpose of cloning prior to rewriting the hdd partition from mbm to gpt as required by the x79 chipset, and then after to restore my os and such, then I am ok with that. That requires a 500GB hdd and that is not expensive. I looked, the price is not that high here.

Vic I read this at Einstein a post you put up there

As the law currently stands, the only way I will be able to continue seeing my current doctors, without Medicare, would be to have a full time permanent job that will accept and work with the fact that I have Bipolar Disorder, and Asthma issues, and still let me onto their Group Insurance Plan. I don't see this happening any time soon.

Oh I do know what the Master Boot Record is and as I said you can REBUILD it in dos but your the expert

Has your doctor given up trying to get you to lose the 200pound you need to for your health you know you can't get your knees fixed if you don't lose 200 pound.

And just think of all the money your going to save not stuffing your face with all that food .

Vic did I meantion the drive that I can't access is a 1 terra byte drive and it contains my original win 7 on it and that win 7 install disc has only a 1 user policy .

So I'm going to learn from a expert like you

Can anybody help me please as I lost a h/d with win 7 on it and now I have to buy a new h/d and a new copy of windows so I'm going to need about $500 .

I'm on a disability pension as I have disc's in my lower back , neck and middle back damaged

I was bashed up when I was 16 and my lower back has been damaged ever since , my neck was damaged in a car acciedent and I was a passenger and I have damaged my right hand at work and cut the tendon on the back of it so I have a lot of problem from that .

I can't work anymore however I have worked most of my life in heavy industry , Steel , trucking

It's important to me I get the second computer going as I'm using it to generate Bitcoin for seti so the sooner I can get it back up and running the quicker I can help seti

I think I deserve the help where Vic don't he's just overweight and won't do what his Doctor says to improve his health and get back to working so I ask before you consider giving your donations to a Bludger could you help someone that is genuinely needing help like me

Thank's for your consideration.

I don't get medicare, I am 55, not 65, 2nd the doctor here specializes in family medicine, not on someone my age, so no He has not done so, plus He is the only doctor who takes my plan, I get medi-cal.

Rebuilding an mbr in a system that is gpt based is worthless...

I am depressed, I have not been diagnosed with being bipolar, I have concentration problems (short term memory problems) and severe anxiexty, a lower than normal thyroid output, eyesight problems, asthma, osteoarthritis, lower back problems, weight, joint problems from surgery to fix a broken leg in 2002 hence a ruined left ankle, dislocated hips and right shoulder (from a fall in the us army, no medical records exist for this, since it was merely seen as heat exhaustion and so I was just put on an army 6*6 and I was never xrayed), OA was discovered when I was 40yrs old in My right shoulder, OA is in my spine and in my hips, it's hardv and painful to bend over now, this started not long after I had been discharged honorably from the us army.

To my mom I was her perfect child, as such I never had my eyesight tested, my older siblings wore glasses, in my moms eyes I would have been defective, on her deathbed She said "I would never get disability", I had to gather the medical evidence that had been denied me when I was growing up, she was from texas and was a bit delusional.

Today I tried to lower My TWC bill, I got about an $8.00 reduction, plus a $20 one time credit, a few weeks back I was told for the next 12 months My bill would be $118.72 a month(down from $143.75), looks like that was rescinded by someone somewhere in TWC, so My new bill in June will be in the $130 range and with a $50 a month increase in My rent come July, so I looked elsewhere for more cuts, I cut My Virgin Mobile bill down from $35.00 a month(after taxes: $37.37) to $30.00(after taxes: $32.03) or $5.43 less a month, this a reduction in speed really from 1GB to 500MB. So I cut My bills by about $13.43 a month, not as much as the increase, technically I should on the 1st cut My cable TV signal and just hand in the Cable TV box, power cable and TWC remote, and go back to the 11 or 12 channel OTA UHF TV antenna. Since I have only 2 bills that are something that I can cut, $13.43 or so is all I can expect from there.

I know you are in a somewhat remote area, but do you have any other choice for internet access other than TWC??
If so, you could dump them and stream a hell of a lot of content for $100.00 a month.
Just asking.
I don't even have a television. Everything I have contact with except when I am with Lori, comes in on my ATT modem.
News, Seti, youtube, local news, whatever.
It's all at my beck and call via the net.

I think a Roku device or something similar might be good, but of course Vic would still need an isp. If he's got one of the newer "smart" TV's, he might not even need an add-on, like a Roku.

Nothing anymore, Verizon is going unregulated wireless for internet and dropping DSL/Landline maintenance as much as they can, cell providers have internet access, but using My smart phone as a hotspot, that I don't know how to do, which is why I got hooked up to TWC, they do the work and spend the money that's needed to maintain the area, Verizon just doesn't. TWC is involved in upgrading the area for MAXX internet service, so far they just put in 1GHz capable cable on the poles, right now TWC is adding more nodes in Barstow CA for this new level of service, I was told if this is not done the area would crash, so I've got extreme speeds of 30/5 FREE for 1yr and yet I am paying for 20/2. If you look up the Yermo CA zip code of 92398 on the TWC site, it will say the most one can get so far here is 20/2, since nothing had been done since TWC got this area from Adelphia Cable. And yes the node here should be subdivided about 2-5 times, but that can take from what I've read, 4 months.

What I pay to TWC is for Internet and for TV.

In the last few months I've had to replace 3 door knobs(2 external, I did the internal), 1 electric outlet(GFCI, I did that), 1 tan sun visor(I installed that), two tires(1 tire went kablam and shredded the sidewall, the aluminum rim(stock for My car) is ok), plus the 4 struts(mine are nearly shot, only the springs work, driving over an animal gate is best done at walking speed or slower, I've had the parts for almost a month, at least, you just don't hear Me talk much about cars, brake parts(shoes/pads), plus there is a speedo assembly(my tach is broke, the speedo has a working one), a Yatour phone interface to My car stereo and a Fram oil filter). None was bought after the 1st, since I'm pretty quick at paying bills, lest I forget.

Sometime soon, probably not today(the weather is windy and cool, West @ 37mph, gusts to 47mph, I'll be lucky if the power stays up, 42mph and it could), a friend will once He has found the right wrench size and some jacks to replace My front struts, they are easy to get at, the rear has to have the cover behind the rear seats and under the rear window popped to allow access to the bolts for the top of the rear struts, of course He will have to go in thru the passenger side, since the drivers seat is now almost totally broke and twisted to the left, replacing the seat is about $175.00 with shipping and that seat is in black, there is a shop in town that I think could do the work of taking the old tan seat covers and replace the black covers, I have no idea how much that will cost, though that could maybe be $100, maybe, since I live in a desert, tan is ok and black is too hot out here.

Ok My black(now grey) jeans have a rip in them, Grace doesn't help much, but then She likes that leg, the blue jeans are not far behind, yep they are the only pairs of jeans that I have that I can wear.

If the weather is ok I might get the front struts installed and get the car realigned to a point today or maybe on Thorsday, all for $100, doing the rear? I have to borrow again to do the front, plus buy some eggs, two pair of Jeans are on the list, so far that's all they are too, but at almost $70-$75 a pair($5.99 hemming, $60.00 for the Jeans and the rest is shipping), used Jeans in My size of 8xl(72"Wx30"I) is impossible. The rear struts are not something I can do right now.
