I will be waiting for the GTX 1060. I don't know if the 750 Ti's performance per watt is the stuff of legend but it most certainly deserves to be. It's a complete outlier. A bit of a freak in that department actually. So I bet you'll get the "double the performance" part of your wish but I can't imagine a scenario where the card doesn't use at least 50% more juice than what you're burning now... Unless of course another outlier shows up. If it does it'll likely be a GP107 chip. But those'll probably go into laptops this gen. |

While I'd love to install a couple of 1080s, wont we be hitting the max tasks per day a lot sooner? 08/05/2016 10:37:57 | SETI@home | This computer has reached a limit on tasks in progress Spending good money on hardware that spends its time sucking on air isn't a good prospect. |

I have a Geforce GTX 750 TI OC on my Windows 10 PC. It haa no 6 pins connector. The PSU is only 300 W. It runs both SETI@home GPU tasks and Einstein@home gPU tasks, which take a longer time. Tullio |

The way I understand it, there isn' a max tasks per day, it's # of tasks in progress. True, if there is an extended period of downtime (or not even all that extended, depending on just how fast your rig is) , what you are describing will most certainly come to pass, due to the artifically low limit of tasks in progress for a high performance setup. But, when everything is running normally, there isn't a daily limit that will cut you off of receiving more tasks. |

I think I've misunderstood what that limit was & also looking at Grant's comment over on the Xeon thread it looks like the servers will keep the cards fed as long as they're not returning junk. The kids are well fed & they're not wearing rags, so basically there's nothing stopping me buying a pair of 1080s at the end of the month? |

...so basically there's nothing stopping me buying a pair of 1080s at the end of the month? Unfortunately there is. Thanx for the reminder. I forgot the disclaimer. ------ Important: There's no guarantee the new cards will work out-of-the-box for SETI! If something goes wrong and the cards initially start returning garbage it could take anything from a couple of days, to a couple of weeks, to a couple of months to fix. It's happened before but I wasn't in the forums when it did. You'll have to wait until someone drops by that was, if you'd like more info... |

D*mn it! Me and my bad timing! I had been waiting to buy a new GPU and just bought a GTX 970 a couple weeks ago when it went on sale. Looks like a pulled the trigger about a month or two too soon. I've got to look into Best Buy's return policy on used PC parts... |

maybe someone could buy the gpus at normal prices and bring them to you A nice idea, but since the summer just arrived here I'm not going to 'winter' in Australia. :) To overcome Heisenbergs: "You can't always get what you want / but if you try sometimes you just might find / you get what you need." -- Rolling Stones |

but since the summer just arrived here I'm not going to 'winter' in Australia. :) Mid teens overnight to high 20°s or low 30°s during the day up here. Of course down south you can enjoy below zero misery over night & single digits (or not much more) during the day. Grant Darwin NT |

but since the summer just arrived here I'm not going to 'winter' in Australia. :) I know. A big country. But those 1080's specifications look good. I'm going to have to consider buying one. Just do not know where to dump my 780's. I've got two that I do not use and I have to take one out of the machine if I buy a 1080. Anyone interested in buying 3 gtx780's (cooling fans broken)? Can I add to the for sale list another GTX780, maybe two - I'll see what the UK price of a 1080 is bef0re making the call - Not sure which way my plans are going just now, do I ditch the 780s of the 960s, so the 780s may become 960s. D*mn it! Me and my bad timing! I think that it is 14/15 days normally, or if you're their rewards member, 30+ if I remember correctly. So, if it is close, take a look at your receipt, and call the store and ask if they would be willing to take it back, if it is a day or 2 beyond that. If they will, return it _today_, and get the name of the person you spoke with just in case. Good luck! |

I just had a thought... Will this mean a new driver update? Were there not issues with the last driver update? Inquiring minds want to know....... |

Will this mean a new driver update? Almost certainly :) Probably a new family too... 370.xx Oh and rumor has it GTX 1080 reviews will be out on the 17th. (Not clear ATM if this date is only for the "Founders Edition" reviews or not. Actually I think the same goes for the May 27th launch date... That could be for the "Founders Edition" only too) |

Well, that's all that is currently up on EVGA's site, Founders Edition. 700 smackers, and limited availability to boot! Wonder what that means, like 500 for the whole country or something like that? Well, I'm personally waiting for the 70 series to come out, me thinks that will be more than good enough for my setups. |

Just keep in mind that 'Founder's Edition' is just the new name for 'Reference card' and priced higher, despite no cherry picked parts, both so as to not compete with AIB partner customised cards, (which should start cheaper and custom variants range from basic to ridiculous ,and dearer), And add an 'early adopter tax'. Just a subtle naming convention change. I'll probably yoik the Founder's moniker for the basic codepaths in Cuda applications, instead of current 'Baseline', or 'Reference', so that the terminology becomes consistent referring to 'bog standard', versus custom or special.
