I am trying to run the client and set -allow_remote_gui_rpc and get [---] GUI RPC bind failed: -1 returned. The client is processing OK and ideas. I would like to monitor thru bioncview. The client is on a remote network which I can connect too. Can run boinctop locally and view using remote terminal Thanks |

BOINC puts a message out to stderr.txt when it rejects the connection. Look for a message like "GUI RPC request from non-allowed address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" (with the address of the machine trying to connect). Other things - if BOINC is on a remote network, are there any firewalls in between you and the remote machine? How are you connecting to that network, and how are you making sure you are actually getting thru to the remote system (does ping work)? Instead of the command line option, you can create a file called remote_hosts.cfg, it contains a list of the IP addresses (or host names if DNS works) of the systems allowed to connect, one per line. |
