C:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu

Yes, notepad.

Yes, I always change it from *.txt to *.*, made that mistake once a long time ago, and it ended up being named app_info.xml.txt. Obviously, _that_ wouldn't work... ;-)

Any obvious mistakes?

Are you only using an app_info.xml?

you are running 2 different generations in that box.

They should be running different cuda correct?

I'm guessing that with the 600 series in there it's running cuda 42?

If i remember correctly, as BOINC reads the app_info it will pick the first cuda reference it finds and goes with that value, so if cuda 50 comes later, it will never get to it and pick up those values.

I might be wrong on this part.

Someone else want to chime in?

I'd suggest using a app_config.xml to help

Oh, I thought that it said in the Lunatics installer that cuda version 50 is good for 600 series and up, is this a mistake for me to use it? That is what I have been using for all my installs with 600, 700 and 900 series cards, but I remember having some wonky issues with one machine a while ago. I don't remember what exactly I did/changed to make it work, but it got to the point of using the proper number of CPU cores to support the GPU processing. I was happy that it worked, and didn't touch it again! lol

I can't be sure, but I'm pretty sure it is cuda 42 for the 600 series.

Wait a bit and let's see what some of the others say.

K, thanks for your thoughts and suggestions. Appreciate them as always. Time to go back out and try and tame the wilds in the back yard a bit more. Fun stuff, and man & his machine, and all that business. I'll check back in a bit on the next Gatoraid break to see if any other ideas pop up.

Heck with the Gatoraid, it's time to work on fussy computers, so after all that hard work outside, it's certainly Beer-o'clock! These are the times I really appreciate having a kegerator.

It's cuda50 for the 600 series, at least for my 650Ti uses it without a problem.

The choice of CUDA42 vs CUDA50 for GTX6xx is to a certain extent dependent on the rest of the computer, and the use that is made of that computer so a bit of testing should be undertaken - and don't be surprised if similar systems show different selections.

And the difference is likely to be pretty marginal. There's no absolute right or wrong answer to the question - either app will work.
