Any time I try to attach project URl :http://setiathome.berkeley.edu, andenter in my account Key that I was e-mailed, I get the response: "BOINC couldn't get main page for http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/. Please check URL and try again". What am I doing wrong? I've followed the instructions on the e-mail but I think some step by step help would be appreciated. Many thanks |

Make sure you do not have any blank spaces at the start and finish of the URL and Id #. Semper Eadem So long Paul, it has been a hell of a ride. Park your ego's, fire up the computers, Science YES, Credits No. |

Step by step help can be find here. A BOINC Owner's Manual can be find here. Hope this will be of any help. Read the News at the homepage Have a look at the Technical News Look if your question is not answered at the Boinc Wiki Best greetings, Thierry |

Many thanks for you help, manuals etc but I'm still having the same problem and still can't get my seti@home working. I have tried to ensure that the url that I was e-mailed is copied exactly into project URL field (no spaces etc.. ) & the damn thing still says "BOINC couldn't get main page for http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/. Please check URL and try again". 2 questions. Is 'http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/' the correct project address?? Should I be messing around with the Proxy Server settings to get this to work. (I haven't touched them yet!!) SOrry about my lack of know-how but this is getting frustrating! |

Bad proxy/firewall settings can often result in the same error messages you are seeing. BOINC WIKI BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |

I use Norton Internet Security 2005 and the same may apply to you but what you will have to do on your firwall is signon as admin and ADD the BOINC program to the number of programs that are allowed internet access. I had the exact same problem with a new pc that is not run under admin rights and I received the same error message you had. After I added BOINC to the list of programs that my firewall would allow through it worked just fine after I attached the work project. http://setiathome.berkeley.edu (then use your account ID (huge long number)). |
