It cost me over $500.oo to re-rubber
our "Auto Publica" last year. It ate
in to our savings like a hungry dog!

El-Beep-O!

Well for My car I can only afford two tires right now, my front two tires are ok.

Speaking of hungry dogs, two strays saw Me and some food I'd bought and started barking at Me in My own space, as I was about to take some pics of the tires, I'd put My black cane down next to(behind to the dogs) the old desk chair, they started to bark and advance, so I picked up My cane and held it in a manner they'd understand as a threat, they retreated, what I had wasn't good for them and truth is I don't have any food they could eat and I am not about to go on some hungry dogs menu. And I didn't want to threaten them, but it was dark out, though I could see by the light of a street light that is about a street away.

I was going to go out and change the blown tire for the compact spare tire, but I found I had no tire jack(Carmax didn't inspect the car very well, another item for Me to get, sigh), so I called a friend, who I knew had a car and possibly a jack, He was coming this way anyway, so needless to say, it's not My fault I have a spare tire on, the car. Me I just sat and watched(in an old cracked junk chair that sits near the car under My car port), I was out of breath just from walking to the car and climbing the porch steps and then walking back to where I snapped this pic with My phone. The rim looks ok on both sides, outside of being dirty on the back, but the old tire is scrap, the tire gave its remaining life to save the 15"x5.5" aluminum rim, the spare is a 14"x4".

Thanks Lynn and Rob Smith, eventually I do have to get a tire jack, seems Carmax didn't inspect the car good enough, I thought all this time that one was in the trunk with the compact spare tire, sigh, another item on the list...

Maybe in June I can replace the front tires, there goes another $135.84 or so, but they have a 50,000 mile warranty, the tire that blew did that, it blew, literally, right thru a thin spot in the tread, it didn't even sound like it was the tire.

I don't trust tire wear warranties. Too many conditions. Read it some time. You have to buy all 4 tires at the same time. You must have them rotated every 3,000 miles and a bunch of other conditions. I have bought four sets of tires in the 80k miles I have driven my Audi. Twice they were 60k mile warranty tires. One set had a 30K warranty. The current set has a 50 k warranty.

Message 1773599 - Posted: 24 Mar 2016, 2:21:46 UTC - in response to Message 1773575.

These are the two tire choices that I can afford:

The Goform G520 is an all-season radial tire with and M+S rating for snow and mud. This all-season tire brings a computer designed tread pattern for maximum traction in dry and wet driving conditions. You get a smooth, quiet ride that brings traction and long tread life at an affordable price point.

The Nankang XR611 is a great all season tire with an H & V rated tread offering passenger touring choices. Wet traction and handling are enhanced with the angled tread blocks and siping, while the 4 circumferential grooves provide enhanced cornering and lateral traction. Drivers get a comfortable ride with the road-noise reducing variable pitch tread, which also makes for a quiet ride. This tire from Nankang was designed with performance in mind, is built to last longer and has rolling resistance for improved fuel efficiency.

My car does say Sport on the back and is called a Hot Coupe for a reason, I'm still in favor of the XR611 and the area can get downpours when it rains here.

Not the least of which is that is only lasts so long as all tires will weather check with age even with zero miles on them.

Mud is unheard of here, unless one is named Harry...

And snow is almost non existent.
