My machine took a hit of some kind yesterday that I can't explain. When BOINC came back up it looked like it lost SETI main although beta was still attached. I re-attached SETI main, but it cleared the board of everything that I had for SETI main, even though the tasks were still in the data folder, so I reset the project. It looks like 7(AP), 97(v7) & 294(v8) tasks were abandoned. I don't buy computers, I build them!! |

My apologies as well for those awaiting the work units from Beater Cruncher #3... finally succumbed to mainboard failure. It was my first multi-core machine from 8 or 9 years ago when I had just found such things existed (conversation prior to buy was basically "It has four real cores??!" "It does." "I gotta have one!") Its tiny amount of work done belies the 27 million it racked up while on Windows. (Also did a huge amount of hobbyist mod debugging work on several games on it as well.) So long, old timer. |

Beater Cruncher #1 lost both a hard drive and a GTX980... good thing the card is still under warranty. Unfortunately all the cached work units were lost. |

Brown-out? Time to get a UPS. Though in your case sounds like too late. |

Greetings All Apologies, but unfortunately I have just had to do an abort on the following computer ID# 7831676. Hard drive started making horrible sounds and no sooner I did the abort, it just locked up and stopped working. Am now in the process of rebuilding with another HDD. Regards |

Oh, crappins. Lost a HD on one of my rigs today. Sorry for the hung up WUs, wingmates. Even the kittyman gets kicked once in a while. Meowsigh. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

My post below re: mainboard failure, well, I got it going, and in the process noticed something I had missed when I bought it: it has two PCIe slots! So I threw a second 970 in and ended up with a much more productive system! But alas to all wingies expecting results from 7945042, this was definitely a motherboard failure as a capacitor blew right off it and was found stuck to the exhaust fan. Made it easy to find the cause at least. Hope the RMA comes through before the work units time out. |
