I installed the BOINC client on a ZTE Z992 Android phone with an ARMv7 Processor rev 1 (v7l). This was a phone that I didn't use regularly and loaned visiting relatives or used for Android app testing at work, so I could keep it plugged in and working on BOINC projects 24/7. It completed its first SETI v8 task last Wednesday and took 3 days to complete.

Unlike my desktop-based BOINC, I noticed that it didn't go through an extended verification stage. It just went straight to "completed and verified".

I also noticed that I didn't get credit for the task in my personal (Acct name: SETI@AteneoDeDavao) or team (#pagasaKIG) pages.

Questions:

Could BOINCStats and the SETI pages not yet be configured to record tasks completed by the BOINC client for Android?

Could the task results have contained errors which resulted in rejection of results? (The lack of a verification step was odd)

My SETI@AteneoDeDavao account had been inactive since 2013, and was only reactivated for my Android. Could this be a defect in my account's database record?

I personally use an Android boinc client, and mine has been working so far.

My SETI@AteneoDeDavao account had been inactive since 2013, and was only reactivated for my Android. Could this be a defect in my account's database record?

To me, it does seem like there's a mismatch somewhere.

Looking at the task list for 7923866 which appears to be the phone you're talking about, currently shows one (uncompleted) task; and it looks like it already has 100 credit and a RAC of 8.74

Thanks for chiming in JLDun

I currently have one task in progress, and completed one.

Another difference that I noticed between my PC-based and Android-based tasks is data retention. With my PC-based tasks, they stay on my list even after they are completed.

But with my Android task, the completed task isn't displayed. Only the in-progress one is. But the one that was finished last Wednesday isn't. Could that be a record-display issue, or could the task have been rejected?

Droid tasks tend to run slower than if it was assigned to one of the others; usually this means your tasks get turned in second almost every time and are validated against a wingman's already-returned task.

According to the Server Status page, under the description of "db_purge", completed tasks are deleted after 'about 24 hours'. Tasks returned Wednesday would be gone by now.

Thanks JLDun. That makes perfect sense. Much appreciated.

Yup, it really is very slow. The phone is currently only being used for BOINC, is not being used as a phone, and is plugged on 24 hours a day. It still took 3 days, and only processed one task at a time.

For the task currently being processed, I adjusted the access interval to zero and increased the amount of memory used. Let's see if it gets things done faster.

I have always found BOINCstats to be slow in updating the host information. While Free-DC picks them up faster. I have guessed that BOINCstats chooses not to read the hosts.xml that is generated by the stats every time to make their updates quicker or easier on the server.

For your other account you can compare the hosts list on BOINCstats and Free-DC.
