My account shows four SETI V.7 WUs awaiting validation that are more than a month old. Two were sent Jan. 1, one is from Dec. 28 and one is from Dec. 19 -- 6 weeks old, although the deadlines are still two weeks away.

These last two are with the same wingman.

My question is this: Is it advisable, ethical, recommended or just uncool to send my wingmen a message to get on with it already, finish the those WUs so my four validation pending WUs can be cleared?

Am I being too picky or demanding here? Should I just keep my mouth shut (at the risk that they will be invalidated because they won't get sent before the deadline)?

Just askin...

How would you feel, if others were doing that to you?
Then decide.
My suggestion is,let it be.

A task is only marked as Invalid if the result data does not match the other tasks created for the workunit.

I had some tasks I completed in September validated last week. Because it took a few resends & timeouts to get someone to send in another good result. Which is perfectly acceptable for the project. If the project needed data back more quickly there would be shorter deadlines or other processes in place to ensure results get returned more quickly.

Am I being too picky or demanding here?

Basically yes. You are free to raise any concerns you feel you need to. This is just something many users whine about & hasn't changed over the past... when was BOINC launched?... 14ish years?

Rasputin:

Right. Will do.

Although I don't think I'd mind a bit of prodding if I were lagging behind. Sometimes when I'm thinking I walk slowly and people tell me to keep up, move faster. So I do.

On the other hand, I suppose was lagging myself when I had slow computers that took days or sometimes a week to finish a W.U. I couldn't help it until I got faster machines.

So I will take your advice and let it be.
