5x the speed of light! And the steering wheels are the way you set the max up and download speeds of your BOINC work units. The developers decided to take this feature out of the web interface and replace it with a force-feedback wheel so you can actually FEEL your settings being changed :)

Talk about bad placement... it looks like that suit & tie guy has a mohawk.
