Dogs are my favorite animal over cats, I have always had a dog around. Same here, I can't stand those sly killers of native wildlife. Here's my little, over energetic, 3yr old girl. Cheers. |

Dogs are my favorite animal over cats, I have always had a dog around. She looks much bigger than our Tosca. But she is also over energetic:) Walking her can be somewhat dramatic. I got an black eye once but that is an event too long to tell. |

Dogs are my favorite animal over cats, I have always had a dog around. Yes she's a girl and because of her breed is why I have a 2m high hinge loop wire fence, she can't get out while the boys can't get at her. ;-) Her breed is known to scale 2m+ solid barriers. Cheers. |

...Touché madam, touché :-))) Oh worra swizz!!! Not fair :-( Here you go, my friend... ...But define "socially acceptable"? Example elderly gentleman arrives at a social bash with some eye candy on his arm. Introduces her as his "Niece". Everybody knows full well that she isn't, but 100% of men think lucky so & so, many women think good luck to her. The couple has violated social norms. Per your very scenario, all the men and "many" of the women are instantly aware that a social norm has been broken. A male reaction of envy does not invalidate the simultaneous male awareness that a social norm has been violated. Violation of social norms always comes with a cost. If I sneeze on people while riding a bus, people will direct angry looks in my direction. If I go to dinner at a friend's house, spit out a mouthful of her boeuf bourguignon and exclaim that it tastes like raccoon jerky, I will lose a friend. If I put up a sign in my front yard espousing some hateful and intolerant message, my neighbors will ostracize me and perhaps even protest, vociferously, on the sidewalk in front of my home. Different violations of social norms result in different costs, but all violations incur a social "penalty" of some sort. Sneezing on people is not illegal. Hating a friend's cooking is not illegal. Espousing hate and intolerance is not illegal. Dating outside of "the forumla" is not illegal (provided, of course, that the "eye candy" is at least 18 years old.) The social penalty that the elderly gentleman and his "niece" incur is being "JUDGED" in some way by more than half the people attending the social bash. If being judged by others each time they step out into public is a price they are willing to pay, well... good luck to them! |

I'm 60 years old, and socially accepted or not, my mind never wandered away like I've seen from some other old(er) men here. Well, you know... "hope springs eternal" I've actually enjoyed this discussion. Nothing is "off topic" in the Critter Cafe!!! |

What I find most interesting is the exorbitant value that appears to be placed on youth. I enjoyed being 18. I enjoyed being 25. I enjoyed being 35. I enjoyed being 45. I hope to someday enjoy being 55, or 65, or 75 or maybe even 85. There is something special about each age. Every age has value. 'Ol Pookers and I share generational knowledge and generational experience that strengthen our relationship as a couple, as we dance across the decades together. I therefore dedicate the following Classic Steely Dan song to all of the lusty livers out there who think that dating a 19 year old would be great, just great... Gentlemen, be careful what you wish for! |

Well, we have a saying in germany. On old bikes you learn driving. There is a lot of truth in that. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

Right now cause of shorted breakers, Graces automated litterbox, and My fan, are both out of action until the breakers dry out some, which means I'll have to go out there in the morning and blow some of the water out, last I looked it was still raining, and it's dark now. The rest of the panel is alright though, or I'd be in the dark, and I wouldn't be typing this. If I had that situation I'd get some plastic and some duct tape (or something) and figure out a way to keep the breaker box dry when it rains. ~Sue~ |

I have a caulking gun, and a tube of white silicon caulk, it's water resistant, the original caulking developed a crack, between the metal box and the homes wall, I just need a dry day or for the capsbc to caulk that, since I am on the capsbc's approved list for weatherization. The side of the house where the box is at, is normally the sheltered side, since here rain usually comes from the west, not from other directions. Both the fan and Grace's litterbox are operating again. I just don't have much energy to do much lately. Soon I need to go buy some more fishsticks and 7 gallons of gas for My car. Just remember Chris. Don't let the "angle" give the "wisdom" a heart attack. You can take this advice anyway you want. |

As many small newspapers do, this one includes incidents from the police blotter. I thought the group would enjoy this one: ~Sue~ |

I think someone should feed their dogs better. Yes! And that goes for Tori as well. http://siberiantimes.com/other/others/news/n0855-couple-jet-off-to-germany-abandoning-loyal-family-pet-to-freeze-to-death-at-airport-in-minus-30c/ |

Love the police blotter! The feeder is clearly a kindred spirit to many here. |
