Well it seems the new squirrel feeder has met with approval.

First a little investigation.

Then a hazelnut.

Which was immediately buried.

Followed by several more, then onto the walnuts.

The most difficult bit about taking these pictures is to select the best ones as I tend to take quite a few.

LOL!!! I've been to Helsinki, but not in the winter!!!

This sign reminds me of something a baggage handler said to Eric and to me one Christmas when we were traveling to the midwest.

The baggage handler asked for our final destination and I said Duluth. He asked, "Now why would anybody go to Duluth in December?" and I answered, "because my husband's mother makes really delicious butter cookies for Christmas".

The baggage handler said, "You tell his mama to put some of those butter cookies in the deep freeze, and then go out and see her in July!"

Really got to love that baggage handler's logic :-)

But I bet her cookies taste better warm and fresh than out of the freezer :-)

Story here.

LOL:)
Reminds me of a trip to Helsinki going by boat in the winter and in the early morning getting a message in the cabin like this.
"Hyvää huomenta.
The clock is now 7 o'clock and we will soon enter Helsinki.
The temperature is a about -18C ( 0F )"

You will need "Sisu" in Finland.

So today I was watching the squirrel on the feeder, it is so common a sight now I don't always take pictures.

However I was watching as this squirrel was taking single hazelnuts in the shell and disappearing to the end of the garden to no doubt bury it.

I was waiting for it to return when from above on the trellis it appeared again

Or was it? This time it sat and eat it's way through 3 walnuts before I suddenly saw the first squirrel returning it climbed up and whilst I stood there without taking a shot chased the other one away.

So proof as I suspected that there are a t least 2, problem is looking at the two pictures and allowing for a difference in light, can I tell them apart.

Well yes if this squirrel turns with its left side towards the window.

You can see behind the ear a dark scar, So I can definitely say there are at least 2 red squirrels visit my dads garden.

I also think the second one is lighter in colour.

From never having seen one a few weeks ago now two at once. I suspect having a good supply of nuts has helped.

Now all I have to to is try to pictures of the two together, not easy as they do not seem on friendly terms.

Our budgerigar just died 2 hours ago.
He had problems with his right leg the last few days and was more handsome than usual.
He slept in our hands a few hours a day so i saw this coming.
It is just a bird but wow verxy hard anyways.
My wife is still crying.

Sorry to hear that, Mike.
Pets come in many different shapes and sizes.
Does not make it any easier that yours was a bird.
Comfort and condolences.
